Gardiner is returning from an injury. He was sent to the AHL for conditioning purposes.

Edit: Anyway, this is getting off topic.

Glad to see the Leafs and Oilers can't be in the same proposal without a bunch of petty garbage.

Its a conditioning stint after a concussion.

Remember when T.O fans were certain that Schultz would sign there because of Gardiner? At that time most of you were hailing him as Jesus.

Now that he signs with EDM he isn't worth Kadri?

26+ minutes, 6 shots and 2 points against the defending cup champs?

Schultz> Anything T.O could offer AINEC

Let's keep it relative though; Kadri playing with Leo Komarov and a revolving door, Schultz with RNH, Eberle and Hall..

I'm not gonna compare the two, but keep it in perspective...

Schultz has been as advertised; and offensive defenseman with some work to do on the defensive side, and Kadri has finally started to look like the player the Leafs drafted 7th overall... Aside from the point production, he's been good without the puck and that was his problem..

Both teams are happy with their guy, no need to make a deal .... Toronto and Edmonton are bad trade partners..

Oh, and don't tell people you get your information from Craig Button.
Problem is you have not watched the Oilers because Schultz has been great defensively. Played 26 minutes last night and 23 vs the Sharks and was 0 during the Sharks game.

There is no one player on the Leafs I would trade Schultz for.

Theres a difference between wanting to sign a guy for nothing but money and trading valuable assets for a guy redundant to our prospect pool.

For the record, I never hailed him as Jesus. I maintain Gardiner is the better NHL player until proven otherwise. Which Schultz, by virtue of having precisely 3 NHL games under his belt, has not yet done.

So does that make Edmonton the cup champs?

Schultz has a lot of work to do on the other side of the puck... While Schultz may be the sexy pick, the Leafs have an abundance of offensive d man... They need Kadri more then they need Schultz right now.. Value is irrelevant, the Leafs need a number 1 centre and a number 1 goalie.. Schultz isn't either, so I can't see Toronto paying the price for him.

The Leafs will keep Gardiner, the Oil keep Schultz, and we should really stop with these significant trade proposals between these teams, neither team is in a position to trade building blocks.. Haven't we learned that yet?

If you disagree post an intelligent response instead of a one line retort. It adds no value to to the thread.

Very few people outside of T.O believe that Gardiner>Schultz.

You can keep him, he isn't needed in EDM.

Really? Because he's been caught up ice a few times that I've seen..

I like the Oilers, and I like watching them, but some of the fans make it tough not to root against them..

I'm pretty sure anyone with the hockey package has been pretty interested to see both Schultz and Yakupov.. I've watched quite a bit of Oiler hockey, thanks.

The only people adding little value to the thread is posters like you.

Many have explained why they hold such positions on the values of Gardiner and Kadri versus that of Schultz. You and others simply have chosen to ignore them, build a straw man, and then proceed to make broad generalizations about a fan base of millions.

An Oilers fans started this thread. Furthermore, no Oiles fans have actually said what they'd be willing to move for Gardiner.

This is how the world sees the Leafs. The rabid fan base makes it hard to cheer for any of the players.

I don't mean to knock Toronto at all. It is just that our fan bases do not mix at all.

Gardiner is a great player. And only time will tell who is the better player.

Either way, these threads only generate animosity.

An in-betweener situation. Gardiner isn't going to fetch one of the Oilers elite players, but he's too good to trade for a package of Edmonton's supporting cast. Nothing fits that both sides could remotely agree upon.

Gardiner is pretty close to untouchable on the Leafs
Schultz is a pretty cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything (He's also a good player)
Kadri is coming around finally and looks pretty good.

There is no trade to be made

I can't think of two fanbases more deserving of each other's proposals .

If you think the Leafs would part with Gardiner for anything less than one of the big 4 (even though the Leafs should add something), you're nuts.

That's one Oiler fan, but the rest want nothing to do with Gardiner, that's why no Oiler fan has made a offer. If they did, it would be shot down, flamed, or just plain insulted, so why bother.

To be honest, there is nothing on the Leaf's team the Oilers would want or need. Yes a player like Gardiner would be nice, but he's not needed.

Gardiner is a very nice player but not what the Oilers need. We need a #1 stud (which we wont get unless we get lucky at the draft) or we need a very physical shutdown #4 that has no offence but is unbeatable and hurts guys. We dont need any more puck movers or tweeners. Gardiner would be nice to have but just does not fill any need for the Oilers.
