I can't hate PSU for getting a team. College hockey is great and they have an outstanding fanbase for the game out in PA - hell, there were 19K for Penn State-Vermont in Philadelphia tonight.
But we all know how Minnesota-North Dakota is. That's a series the Wild wish they could have and unfortunately, it's also one now Gopher and UND fans too.

Fitting I guess for the last game of regular season play to end in a tie, nice to see the Gophers battle back when the Whioux were at their best like toinght. I have a feeling we will see them again this year anyway.
Just saw the women's gopher hockey team is still undefeated and they travel to Madison this weekend... I feel if any team is going to give them their first loss it is Wisconsin but I'm definitely not very confident about it.
Why don't more top recruits end up going to Minnesota State or even Duluth? I know Duluth usually is a top team due to solid coaching and management of the players they have but with all the talent in the State of Minnesota you'd think State or Duluth would be able to lure a player or two like Bjugstad or Fashing.

Mankato has had a joke of a program for quite a while. I mean, at least compared to the pretty much perennial contenders of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. Those are the three teams that probably nab the most high end talent. Duluth gets some here and there.
It's just that if you aren't from Duluth or Mankato, you probably are not rooting for those teams. Pretty much all of Minnesota is a Gopher fan first and foremost. Aside from the far northern part, which is typically UND. But most guys here grow up wanting to play for the Gophers and would prefer to go there if given the chance.
Think Mankato has it bad, try being Bemedji, why would you ever play there.
BTW, Mankato is legit and this game is scaring me.
Mankato is starting to pull it around with that new coach they got. I'm happy for them. My aunt played for the lady Mavs after she transferred there from Wisconsin a few years back.

Over the summer/this past fall I drove through there probably 5-10 times. It's a nice place and all...but I'm sorry. Just not up to par with any of the other D1 hockey programs in the area, city-wise.
EDIT: Even St Cloud is nicer than Paul Bunyan City. Speaking of, those guys are beating the Sioux right now. That's no good. 0-3.
Kinda of a buzz-kill tonight in Mankato. A lot closer match than the score indicated.
I sure hope that disallowed goal was clear on the replay, because I certainly did see a problem with it live. Sucks to be the home team and be on the losing end of two replay reversals.
I remember how crazy that was, he got drafted 5th after playing in high school during his draft year. He was totally dominant at Breck but that still was pretty shocking.
