Nope. Gardiner is the next Orr and untouchable. At least this is what Leaf fans think.

OK... Capitals are F$^@%&@^@.

Here's my proposal:

To Caps:
Luongo
Raymond
Alberts

To Canucks:
Laich
Brouwer
Neuvirth

I doubt it happens as Laich and Brouwer are two of their only forwards that bring any passion/energy to that lineup but holy hell would they look good on the 'Nucks.

Good. Post this after a game where the Caps' best player is the goalie.

The Caps are screwed. Getting Luongo would make things worse.

Depends on who they give up (that's probably where my proposal falls apart) but he'd get them into the playoffs and be a GREAT mentor to Holtby.

To many roster players from capitals.

Brouwer
Forsberg or Wilson
Neuvirth

For

Luongo

This is better value for both teams. Laich is really important and is a leader, so they should keep him.

Wow... we get three straight up for Lou? We'd have to send some back for cap/roster reasons so you can keep Raymond and we'll throw in Ballard(?)

Huge difference between these players.

I guess it's better to ignore all info from Botchford, Dater et. al and just completely follow your own narrative?

Like it or not, this is what was reported. A TOR specific rumour that had Luongo reject them as a possible destination. CHI is also mentioned. How does that even come out if Luongo is completely open to going anywhere?

Now StringerBell is also right in saying that what was the mindset then may not necessarily be the mindset now. That said, it doesn't speak well to TOR being a prime destination for Lu's services. And if they aren't a desired destination, why the hoopla about him going there? Because _they_ have a need? That means little to Gillis and co. if Luongo isn't willing to go there.

Um...no.

We will never trade Forsberg, Wilson, or Brouwer. Especially for a gigantic contract like Luongo when we already have Ovi's who is not performing.

For an aged goaltender who we're not going to win a Cup with, he is. If Lu was 23 it would be different. Its completely possible, if not probable, that we are not ready to compete for a Cup while Lu is still a great goalie. So if thats the case then why bother acquiring him?

As Tim Robbins said in Shawshank: "Hope, it might be the greatest thing...". Luongo gives you hope AND a brilliant mentor for the talented Holtby when he takes over. Look what he did for Schneider.

I'm still mystified how this kind of baiting is allowed.

Nobody, not one single poster, has ever compared Jake Gardiner to Bobby Orr. The only people who do this are opposing fans grossly exaggerating claims who in turn, if the player busts, rips into Leaf fans for being "unrealistic."

Gardiner made the NHL all-rookie team, outscored all other rookie defensemen, and showed great promise last year. Why is it so hard to grasp that the franchise icing the second youngest team in the NHL has no interest in trading highly thought of youth? Especially for a 33-year-old goaltender? Why is demanding an overpayment or refusing to move a player like Gardiner unless it meets our needs seen as a bad thing?

Umm you mean Reimer right? and yea as said if he isn't even willing to come here, no real point.

And us Leaf fans have hope every year...it gets killed eventually though.

No... I've been talking about a Caps trade with the Nucks... who wants ANYTHING from the Leafs?

Capitals are not whatsoever interested in Luongo guys.

Too big of a contract and Neuvirth/Holtby are the least of our concers. We need defense and consistent forward play.

Move on

I think you'd be surprised... for me Tampa and Washington are the MOST likely destinations.

No one has or is comparing Gardiner to Orr. You just have unrealistic expectations in a Luongo trade.

How about when Maple Joke fans stop calling Luongo washed up?

Also you're not going to get any top prospect from Washington, Chicago, obviously Toronto, or whoever trades for him, go and ask Hawk fans if they want to give up Leddy or Teravainen. Ask Washington fans if they want to give up kuznetsov or forsberg..answer is pretty obvious

The farther Washington, Tampa, and Philly fall behind in this shortened season the quicker they'll be willing to give up. For those teams they have FAR too much invested in NOW to wait...
