-Turnovers. So many it was painful to watch. Especially in the offensive zone. Just handing the puck to the other team (or shooting into shinpads). Unacceptable really, you just can't turn it over that many times. This game wasn't on the system or the coach. Turnovers killed it for us.
-No puck support, no creativity. Pretty predictable in the offensive zone.
-Sutter. Just didn't play well
-Kunitz and Dupuis: Didn't do anything productive. Just bad.
Shero's already on the bench. Put himself there at the beginning of last season. Why do you think Sid found himself skating in the playoffs with Sullivan and Dupuis?
grover just said: but look how Bylsma coached last year (mening succesful) same guy who let his team fell apart at the end of the season, who didn't have any answers to New York friggin Islanders, not even getting to the Philly series
Bob Grove has a good pulse on what is prevalant feeling in Pens organization and that is that Bylsma is a great coach and they are always play or two away from greatness
and our great hockey writes asking hard questions such as how the lack of training camp affects your game (as if other teams had the darn training camp)
- Everyone but Vitale and Niskanen were ****, mostly on account of the endless giveaway parade. Nearly all of our forwards gave the puck away two or three times in the last 2 periods... maybe not Neal. Can't recall him doing it but he didn't get many good shots off either except that post at the end.
- Danny Disco (he got outcoached in a big way after the weekend, but especially tonight... Noel made him look stupid). I am starting to lose my belief in this guy's ability. He's still a young coach but at some point, learn from your damn mistakes dude.
Granted it's only 4 games in after a long lockout and guys are out of shape and not sharp but still, no excuse for that level of slop.
Dupuis - Crosby - Kennedy
Kunitz - Malkin - Neal
Cooke - Sutter - Tangradi
Glass - Vitale - Adams (is too much to ask for to get Jeffrey in here for Adams though?)
Niskanen - Letang
Orpik - Martin
Despres - Bortuzzo
- Bylsma not acting like a ****tard.
- Forwards not leaving the zone too early, and no more trying to throw passes up the middle with nobody there for support.
- Defense stop turning the puck over with long stretch passes.
- Roll 4 lines consistently, and stop tinkering with **** that clearly won't work.
Also, this team needs new blood. Don't care if it's top 6, bottom 6, defenseman or a ****ing equipment manager, this team just seems stale. No heart or urgency at all save for a few guys.

I agree Bylsma had a horrendous late regular season and the early playoff exit but to be fair and what Grove may be talking about is that Bylsma did do some good things last year. Sidney Crosby missed 60 games, Jordan Staal missed 20 games, Kris Letang missed 31 games and the team still had 108 points. The year before Crosby and Malkin both missed about half the regular season and they had 106 points. That is impressive. That said, they say coaches all have an expiration date and Bylsma's may be rapidly approaching if the current struggles in the regular season continue or another early playoff exit happens.
- Bylsma.
1. I think we have been among the worst passing teams in the league for a couple of seasons. Ought not be possible.
2. We have a defensive system that negates our strengths and inflates our weaknesses.
3. When things go south, we are incapable of adjustments and seemingly never get a hand from the bench.
4. I am completely baffled why Despres got scratched. The third pairing had largely been effective, and I thought Despres played a very decent game against Toronto. Suppose someone had to get punished and sure enough it will be the youngest player on the team. What we then got instead was the worst performance of any Pens pairing this short season so far with Lovejoy being clearly the worse of the two.
Anyway... I don't rate Bylsma and never have, so maybe I am being biased here. But I think we exhibit every indication that we are a poorly coached team.
There were numerous players deserving stick in this one, particularly Kunitz, Lovejoy, Cooke, Letang and Sutter. Tangradi also, being very unnoticeable when he didn't look obviously weak. Won't knock Geno's line as they were only ones creating offense, and it wasn't their mistakes causing chances against in general.
On the plus side.... Sid, Vokoun (Buff bomb and pretty WPG execution on both the other goals), King Vitale, Duper and Niskanen.
