I for one don't care what we pay Perry. 10 mil 5 mil 2 mil I dont care! I just want him signed as soon as possible. Make it happen, Murray.
Well, after thinking about it the last while, right now I stand at: if it requires $9M+ I'd definitely rather see Perry traded. At $8-8.5M, I'm on the fence. Assuming it's independent on Getzlaf's decision.
Dude we can't afford 9 mill for Perry. We still have to sign Getz as well as Ryan in a few seasons. We have one of the lowest caps in the league and our owners probably like it that way. Not that it makes sense nor do I agree with it, but were a low budget team! In a very small market. We aren't the Lakers bro
It was always unlikely that we could keep all 3 anyways. If you just draw a line in the sand too far below market value, then you risk losing all three.

Although, two contracts worth of 9 mils would seriously hurt signing other players like Palmieri unless someone gets traded for nothing but, I don't except the Ducks paying both 18 millions combined.
But you also have to account for filling Selanne and Lydman's roster spot. And honestly, both are probably considered cheap for the role they fill. It seems likely that those two retiring/leaving would actually hurt us in terms of having money for the twins. If you replace them with cheap rookies than you have saved money, but if you want to rely on any kind of external replacement then it's probably a net loss.

What we ALL really should be discussing here is what we will do to move forward if Perry leaves and Getz? Will it be a domino effect and Selanne will retire cause we're in rebuild mode? Will Koivu hang em up as well?
That's my biggest concern right now is the domino effect

We can't really discuss that, though, because there's just too many variables. No question, losing Perry hurts anyone's chances to remain competetive. But whether it would automatically trigger more of a rebuild / a transitioning season is up to many questions. How good will the team be this year still with Perry? What would the return for him look like? Which pieces could be expected to bring certain levels of impact? What are we going to do ourselves at the deadline? I'd expect us to do more of a re-tool than purely selling, apart from a Perry trade. What happens in free agency? All these things will shape the outlook for next season, and thereby impact the decisions for Selanne and Koivu. I don't think seeing Perry walk would be the end all, be all for them.

There are currently too many unknowns. If either or both leave we will hopefully have traded them for something of value. If and when that happens I'm sure this place will explode with ideas of what to do next. But it's awfully hard to speculate on that right now.
The game was out of reach at the time you want guys like Bonino who do nothing?
We won't get **** if we trade him unsigned. We're better off dragging it out and trying to sign him. Mark Guy of Newport Sports 'his agent btw' is a deuch bag just sayin btw.

Care to elaborate for those of us who don't know more about this guy?
Also same guy who encouraged Ryan not to sign with us correct? But Ryan went against his agents wishes?
Exactly and this is why I called him a deuch bag. If it wasn't for Ryan making the call he would of been gone. Who knows what he's gonna put in Perry's head this time around.
Stephens on NHL live tonight was talking that Getz is more to sign than Perry. They both love it here, but it comes down to dollars and cents. I don't see us keeping perry. And Stephen ensured Getzlaf starting a family here. So Getz should resign. I'm expecting a perry trade so take it what it's worth.
If Berry Melrose thinks we're a playoff team, we're screwed.
No bad word about Melrose. If it wasn't for his coaching at the Lightning, I would not have been able to draft Steven Stamkos in the 10th round in the inaugural season of our fantasy keeper league after his rookie year.
(... because my arch nemesis beat me to Derick Brassard.)

I don't see us keeping Perry either but I'm still hoping that we do. If we can keep it up this season and combined with all the young talent we have then it's clear we are a relevant team. That being said Ryan stepping into his own without Getz and Perry on his line makes Perry a little more expendable in my opinion but what do we do when we need to replace a first line winger along with the majority of our secondary scoring (Koivu, Selanne).

When Selanne retires this team is going to take a step back, no matter what we do. Koivu probably won't come until after next season, and frankly, Bonino looks more than capable of stepping in to replace Koivu when he decides to hang it up.

Did eenok write this for you? I'm totally confused on what you are trying to say here. Can you separate exactly what Stephens said from what your opinion is?
