There's a reason a Ryan-Bonino-DSP line worked better than the current 2nd line.
I agree I would take Bones 10 fold over dead weight. One of Burkes WORST mistakes MY god. Way overboard DJ

Because he has not been as bad as everyone feels. He is just not flashy so many think he does not belong. He is a solid 2C if he has the right line mates. He reminds me of a poor mans Ruchin but not as good as face-offs.

Really, Morrison and Weight, they were both terrible in their stint with us.

Morrison 10 goals 12 assists in 62 games

Weight 6 goalsl 8 assists in 38 games

Yeah the Weight thing was way overboard on my part. I don't think it's a secret that I say dumb stuff when I get worked up. And this game was just the tip of the iceberg of a god awful day.

Regardless, in all seriousness DSP, Sbisa, Hiller, and Bones were not great today. Schneider was incredible and the refs were dropping acid.

We've played 6.25% of our season and Mackinnon's name is already coming up. And I'm going overboard?

I'd be more inclined to give Rakell a chance on the 2nd line than Holland, based on the first three games. Which is kind of the point. It's been three games, and Bonino is arguably not even the worst player on the line right now. Maybe the chemistry is all wrong, and we need to try something else, but I'm still waiting for Ryan to start his season, and Selanne hasn't been a great ES player for a couple of seasons now. That puts a heavy, heavy load on Bonino. I doubt Holland or Rakell could carry it either.

Seriously, you need to calm your fans. Went on to your site to congratulate your people only to be told I need to have YouTube evidence of Sedin's dive during tonight's game.

Seriously????

DSP and Sbisa really haven't been good these first three games, period. DSP can be sent down and replaced with someone else, but Sbisa has got to be better. He's practically been a liability at times, and this blue line looks built around rolling all three pairings.

Winnik can slide onto Bonino/Ryan's line (unlikely) or he can flank Getzlaf and Perry, allowing the coaches the opportunity to put someone with past chemistry (Palmieri) with Bonino/Ryan, or Holland/Ryan. There's so many more options if you split up the third line.
Also, having a good shutdown line means nothing if there's no offense generated alongside it. The only difference of opinion I have is that I'd consider keeping Winnik with Koivu and Teemu. I think having that physical presence helps, and he can skate.

Hard to judge Holland, really didn't seem like he was out there too much. He was tentative. I think he'll do better over the course of some more games.

That's probably a good move. They've been missing that Kunitz-type of presence on their left for a few seasons now.

I have no problem giving the kids some rotation in our bottom six, particularly since two of them are pretty strong defensively.

I do think that if one of them is moved to the wings it should be Holland. Rakell looked pretty solid at the dot, and he did a good job of asserting himself in games. I'd like to see him finally get a shot on one of the lower PK units, seeing as that is one of his strengths.

Uh .... he's not just "not flashy." He's NOT PRODUCTIVE. He has all of 6 goals in over a season's worth of NHL games. That's not a solid 2C by any measure.

Hey may turn out to be something, but in his NHL career to date he has yet to demonstrate that he should be considered a legit scoring line player. Maybe on a really really crappy team.

Steve Rucchin was a solid 2C. A guy who scores a third as much and is not as good on FO's and isn't as good defensively or as good at working the boards? Sorry, that's called a 4th liner. Calling Bonino a "poor man's Rucchin" is like calling Cogliano a poor man's Paul Kariya just because he can skate fast.

Thanks. Whoever does the next GDT feel free to use it.

Yeah, I definitely want to see Rakell back out there tomorrow.

He also needs to start looking over his shoulder as Hampus nears readiness.

Guess you need to take a look on the Canucks board JP, to see how they believe none of the Sedins dove tonight...or ever.

Oh well....**** them.

I agree. Again, noting that the sample size is reeeeeaaaally small, I think Rakell looks like the best option for centering the 4th line. He definitely made you notice him, in good ways, and as someone mentioned in another thread, no moment seems too big for him. That being said, I want to see more of Holland and less of DSP. I just don't think DSP is earning his spot right now, and I'm interested in seeing how giving Rakell or Holland some more skill to work with(namely each other) influences them, and the line as a whole.

Agreed on everything except maybe Morrison (Weight was so so here too). That experiment was brutal lol. I'm a big Bonino fan in a 3C or 4C role, where he should be playing on a competitive team.

I'd like for Holland to get more looks at center, but with the clock ticking on Rakell, I have no problem favoring him at center in the short term.
