Would you honestly build your offense around Hemsky? Yeah, me neither.
Just because he is your top prospect at a position does not mean he is anything special. It may just mean your prospects at that position are not great.
I would probably not build my offense around Hemsky but he is a damn good secondary player. Pretty close to ppg when healthy and the repairs done on him last year seem to have worked out.
If you want someone young, 100% healthy, dynamic scorer etc you will need to give up one of the players that you deem untouchable or it will never happen

This interests me the most of any post on the thread. Iginla would be a guy that would be perfect in Trotz's system but also provide us scoring. I just don't see him leaving the Flames personally.

Is there any interest on either side for something around Blum and Paajarvi?

I'd trade Blum if we got Paajarvi and a draft pick.

I think it would be pretty even as a one for one swap. Both players have solid NHL potential but neither is having success early on for their team.

Blum could plug-in and play in the second pairing right now, IMO. He's had success in this league but just got in Trotz's doghouse and sent back down. Also didn't help him that Roman Josi and Ryan Ellis are both fantastic young D-men.

Something like Paajarvi + 4th round pick for Jon Blum I would definitely do. I say this because Blum could be a valuable piece if the Preds decide to trade for someone expensive, so the pick adds incentive.

I know that it is early in the season but the way that Hemsky has been playing in the first 3 games I don't want to trade him. He is back checking and playing hard. He has taken some hits and it has not effected him. He looks really good with Gagner and Yak. For the first time is a very long time EDM has two scoring lines. Gagner has even been playing on the PK.

I think a deal around PRV and Blum would be fair for both teams.
