Price got 2.75mil per, when the cap was under 60mil, coming off a season that finished with Halak as the starter.

Price had a lot to prove after the ELC. PK has been our best defenseman the last two years. If MB wants a bridge contract, he should at least look at the range around 3.5M.

subban was our #1 dman last year, while price wasn't even out #1 goalie when he signed the bridge contract.

As much as I am pro player I have to say I am behind MB on this all the other kids coming off ELCs on our team signes their 2 year deals PK sign it prove to MB that you deserve an even bigger payday and move forward. It isn't like you can't survive on 2.9MM a year even after taxes lol.

Right now we dont look so bad but if Markov goes down again we are a lotto team.
Yeah just trade away proven 30 goal scorers like it's nothing and half the leadership on the team including the captain who has 2 goals and 3 points already.

Geez people.

im not against 2 year contract, but it has to be at least 4m. what if subban gets injured badly in the next 2 years? he has to have some kind of security, and he certainly deserved at least 4m per season.

So a concept put in place by our fired GM's now reigns supreme on our team?

Eesh, I was hoping it was a "new era"

The bigger the contract, the bigger his paycheck. There's more motivation for a big time agency to reject lower money.

Yeah, there's absolutely no reason for Meehan to work against his client.

What does the new CBA say about delay/restrictions to trade a player after matching an offer sheet?

I wouldn't go more than 3 to 3.5 max on the 2 year deal.

Screw the bridge....for certian players ok...bridge..but not with Pk.

Example,if habs didnt bridge Price, instead signed him 5mill 7 years.....how much would they have saved? Now they bridged him, and pay him 6.5mill cap hit

Same with Subban id give him 6 yrs now.
3
3.9.
4.5.
4.5.
5.5
5.5

But no,habs with dumb bridge,it will cost us
7.5 million cap hit to resign him in 2yrs.

7.5
7.5
7.5
7.5
7.5
7.5

Again, why make same mistakes over and over.

this offer is joke. no way subban accepts this. and rightfully so.
I'm surprised the offer is that low.

No contract = no money pick your poison. Especially when PK says he doesn't want to play anywhere other than in MTL that gives more leverage to MB.

Exactly. They'll meet somewhere in the middle. It's all about middle ground. Same as PK is not nearly as bad as some people say and I really don't think he's as selfish and me first as some people say. Same as he's not nearly as good as some people think and probably does irk some players a bit.

Middle ground. No need to freak out and jump to extreme conclusions like trading half our team which is looking awesome right now.

This would make sense to me as well. The offer mentioned by Dregger seems very low. I somehow doubt that's the case.

What make you think MB is going to up his offer? From what we know, he has stick to his offer since summer.

That offer is a ****ing joke. You are seriously offering Subban a similar contract to Brandon Prust?

I hope Bergevin doesn't cave in for the number of years.

2.5 is... too low, however.

I mean, Francois Gagnon thinks it's okay, which pretty much means it isn't.
This said, by all means, if we're starting to get ridiculously good trade offers for Subban, then by all mean, trade him.

Besides, can somebody confirm that the Flyers CANNOT make an offer sheet, due to having made one to Shea Weber?

I think what's more shocking to me, if you take what Lavoie is reporting as truth, is that the Habs haven't moved off their initial offer which they gave Subban in May.

Even the staunch 'bridge deal' supporters must admit that's a bit extreme, no?

I wonder if MB will take this hardline approach with all our players going forward...
