C/LW
6'1/183 lbs

Just wanted to start a thread on this guy. Been very good for Djurgården. Button had him ranked in the top 30 in his latest rankings I believe?

For a guy who is doing so well in the Allsvenskan in his draft year, I've only seen Wennberg in one top 30 list. He was #25 in Button's lastest. He leads Djurgarden in goals with 10 in 29 games and is second on the team with 18 points. He had the tap-in goal for Sweden against Canada yesterday. For those who have seen him regularly, what are the strengths and weaknesses of his game? What's keeping him down in the rankings, is he a pretty vanilla player?

#24 against Leksand is his hattrick game

Not to derail, but I would give my left nut for more channels like that offering full games of any relevant leagues.

Very good stickhandling. Not physical. Equally good at scoring and making plays. Good balance. Haven't noticed his defensive game but his +/- is good. I think he's one of the best players on the Swedish WJC roster. He's also the most good looking player on the team.

Yes I'm biased

Count me in as a fan of this kid. I think he might be one of this year's risers.

Looks very "Russian" on the ice. If you can say that? Just unusual for a Swedish kid. Feels like we've got 100 Zetterbergs playing.

Could be this years Zibanejad? Riser from DIF.

One of my favorites in this draft as well. A great skater and so dangerous in front of the net.

I think he will be Swedens top scorer in this WJC. Always played good in the NT and always putting numbers up. Dont know why he isnt more recognized then he is right now. Isnt lacking size either.

I think he could be if he got better opportunities. The Rakell line and the Lindholm line will obviously outproduce the Rask line at even strength.

They're all vastly different players but he's up there with Burakovsky and de la Rose for me. The only thing keeping him down at this point is because he wasn't ranked as high going into the year.

Wennbergs ceiling is hard to set as he is evolving into a better player by the day. Considering he wasn't even picked for TV-pucken he's come a long way in a short period of time, from pretty much unknown to one of the best Swedish players in his age group. This will of course cause him to go a bit lower in the draft than he should.

Which some team will probably consider themselves quite lucky for.

What. A. Player.

From what I have seen Wennberg this year, both with Djurgården and Sweden U20, I think he has great potential. His ability to make plays out of nothing in the offensive zone and strong playing in the face-off are one of his best attributes IMO. If he ends up being a 2nd rounder, I think some team is going to get a steal in this player. I like him personally much more than Burakovsky, who I had high expectations of going into this season.

Wennberg's hockey sense stands out, and his slippery style in the offensive zone. Very good showing for him in the WJC so far.

Expect his stock to have raised after his WJC performance. Turned a lot of heads...

I first noticed him during the U18 when I was watching Collberg before the 2012 draft. He just kept showing up on the score-sheet. If the habs don't implode and draft at their usual "mid-round" place, I'd be pretty okay with him as our selection.

Tedenby was once going to be the next great Swede. Back in his draft year
