Haha.

I had a feeling this would happen. It's a very "Stars" thing to do, as in it's clearly the wrong thing to do.

Gulutzan is pretty much dead to me at this point. Should've hired Muller.

Most retarded personnel decision made this season. Maybe he's in the doghouse due to the injuries, but how in god's name is Jordie ahead of him on the depth chart?

Gulutzan said Reilly Smith likely to move up into the top six group of forwards tonight.

Gulutzan revealed that Kari Lehtonen has a "tweak," which is why Cristopher Nilstorp is getting the start tonight against St. Louis.

Another forward Gulutzan wouldn't identify is 50-50 to play tonight.
Pretty obvious the other forward is Whitney. Thus why lines could be "significantly juggled" tonight.

Some other unnamed forward is 50/50 tonight .... Morrow please.

Larsen scratched. Larsen is scratched. They decided to scratch Philip Larsen.

Nope ... can't make that sentence work. Someone must be playing a joke.

This is also why you don't bring in brothers to the same organization. Especially when there's a massive gap in ability between them.

The only positive tonight is that Reilly is gonna get top 6 minutes.

Larsen scratched? That's a joke.

hopefully just a 1-game thing to encourage more discipline with respect to penalties... but otherwise totally undeserved...

tonight could be really ugly... no jagr, sceviour and vincour playing, no larsen, back-up goalie, line shuffling, 2 rookies dillon and benn paired together... meaning goose-robidas and rome-daley will likely get bigger minutes... (info here from various tweets by heika/stepneski/worley)

The sad thing is you are right its a very Stars thing to do. The fact that it's been happening for so long with different coaches tells me there is some sort of curse on Dallas right now. Probably won't be broken until they change jerseys.

I am going to pretend like Larsen has a nagging injury or a little soreness that taking a game off will help.

The thing with Larsen's penalties is that they've been sort of freak occurances. There were some high sticks and then the one against Chicago was in no way shape or form a tripping penalty. It's not like he's getting beat and hooking and holding as a result.

Hoping for a blowout loss. Several blowout losses in a row would be nice.

I figured it would be Larsen or Dillon and Rome would just slide into the spot vacated. The fact that they are scratching Larsen and switching up pairs is kind of scary. Like maybe they think Rome could be in the lineup awhile.

So much doom and gloom. Let's see what Smith can bring to the top 6. See how Rome will do in a stars jersey. Make the best of this.

yeah... 8 pims... 1 high-sticking (double minor), 1 interference, 1 tripping. i did the whole project over 82 games thing, saw 164 pims, and thought, "yo philip... slow your roll, son!" he's never had a history of taking dumb penalties either. just trying to rationalize gulutzan's decision somehow i guess.

Well the thing is Rome sucks. He is 29 years old, he is not suddenly going to be a solid player.

Okay that's it. I'm officially done with Gulutzan. Anyone who has expectations of this team reaching the playoffs with these kind of decisions made is delusional and setting themselves up to be heartbroken again.

Larsen is freaking scratched? Are you kidding me? Look the kid's taken some unfortunate penalties but is he really going to come down hard on the kid punishing him for that when guys like Morrow and Nystrom the other night actually cost the team the game? What the hell kind of example is that? The young kid is held to a completely different standard than the veterans?

Seriously that's just a piss poor coaching decision and I feel like I'm in deja vu all over again with Gully playing the part of Ron Washington.

If he wants Rome to play then have the balls to sit Robidas or Goligoski both of whom have been terrible this season. Hell sit Benn but don't scratch the one young defenseman most likely to grow by leaps and bounds as he plays in this league.

i know i'm going to get flamed for this, but i don't think larsen's played all that well this year. now, i'm not saying i wouldn't rather that he were out on the ice working through whatever issues he's having, but there could be more to this than just getting jordie some pt with his brother. larsen was decent to good last year, and we are all excited because we expect him to only get better. however, often times young players struggle in their first offseason in the bigs... they feel like they've made it and don't keep the drive and relentless pursuit that it takes in practice and off ice workouts to keep improving. this may not be the issue, but i defiantly feel like he hasn't been nearly as good as he was last year. (i know, small sample size and all that, but the coaching staff has a much much larger sample size than we do)

I think hes been pretty good defensively but needs to step up offensively. It'd be nice if he could be paired with a more veteran guy instead of being tossed out on the bottom pair. Of course the problem with that is the same problem for the entire d, there really no good partner for any dman on the Stars roster, other than perhaps Dillon/Daley

Something I hadn't considered is Gulutzan might want more size in the roster against STL. That makes a bit more sense (but not a ton).
