tsn ranked richards the 44 th best player in the nhl and ranked kessel 47th Why exactly are the kings adding anything ?

the tsn rankings dont really mean anything really, but ricahrds is signed long term and is a center. if the kings were to add it would be a mid round pick or average prospect.

Agreed they don't but it shows they feel kessel and richards are close in value and adding a first would be a little absurd. I do feel there opinions are closer to reality then the average hf poster thou. Imo a center is more valueable then a winger. I dont see us adding at all. I still wouldnt do this trade.

I take Mike Richards all day and twice on Sunday over Carter but I wouldnt give up the asking price so the point is moot.

lol the difference between Richards and Kessel is not a 1st. We are talking the Kings adding a 3rd rounder at most

Sorry, but I think you're grossly over-valuing Kessel here.

LA doesn't have a 1st for this draft, so I don't see them giving away their next pick too. Kessel is a better player offensively, but Richards brings plenty to the table when he's playing his best. 3rd round at best, as others have said, and even that would have me grumbling as a Kings fan.

lol because TSN is the authority on player value. Did you seriously look at that list?

I have a love/hate feeling about Mike Richards. That said, I'm sure I'd love to have him in Boston; he would be awesome between Lucic & Horton.

Wouldn't want to pay what it would take to get him though. I guess for the purpose of the thread, value wise, Krejci and a 2nd round pick maybe; but not sure how that helps LA.

as i said above no its not he absolute list but it show what people alot closer in knowledge to gms think about hockey players then the average hf poster. It shows to me that knowledgeable people think there closer in value then the above leaf fans thinking the kings add a frist.

As an Oiler fan, I would be interested in acquiring Mike Richards. Leadership qualities, playoff and international success. Yes please.

I have no idea how to value him in a trade though because I don't know what the Kings weaknesses in their roster are.

There would be riots if Eberle is traded. Not because he's "the greatest hockey player in the world" but because he's very popular, recognizable and the face of the rebuild.

I'd consider it. Then I'd call back and say no.

I agree theyre probably both overhyped. I would likely do the trade though from a Toronto perspective. We need centres more than wingers, we need physical skilled players, and we need defensively responsible skilled players. Richards addresses all of those needs.
