There's tons of celebrity impersonators, we need to get one to do Kurt with the promise of a steady job. Too many Elvis' out there anyway.

Turns out it was an MJHL game but his call had me on the edge of my seat like it was the 1990 Jets playoffs.

The bottom line is that he's good. Damn good. Better than the guys we ended up with on TSN Jets and 1290. Because of that he should have been given a shot.

Dennis is solid, he's grown on me, however Keilback is a legend. Heck, I was pumped last year when he did an ad or two which aired on TSN 1290. Good to hear Rick Loewen of 2 Sports Guys fame on some ads as well, always found their shows entertaining.

Munzy, well that's another story...

Seen this posted more than once. What does it have to do with living in the past? Keilback was fantastic. I think pro Curt guys are trying to say he would be fantastic now as well.

If a guy like Dick Irvin Jr. was competent enough to do broadcasts would people say stop living in the past if him being considered for a job was being discussed? No, cause the guy is a legend. He was a fantastic PBP man.

Not saying Kielback is on the same level as Irvin but few are.

Sadly, I learned long ago that even in situations where the quality of performance is evident for all to see, that is often not the most important thing in acquiring or maintaining a job.

Perhaps Keilback was convinced, and was probably told by countless hundreds/thousands of people, that it was just a matter of time before he would be back with the Jets.

If he had made a hard push to continue on at that level after he finished with the Jets, I am sure he could have been still calling NHL games.

Of course, pure speculation.

Keilback, in his prime, couldn't follow games like Kelly Moore, Dennis Beyak or Brian Munz can now.

I like Dennis Beyak, he calls a good game. I"m not stuck in the past but don't belittle Curt Keilback though, he could make an 8-1 loss sound exciting.

Yes I agree. I was thinking of doing this at the end of last season, but never did do it. But it's time. Time to modernize my profile. I've changed my username to dedicate myself 100% behind the Winnipeg Jets 2.0. Winnipeg Jets 1.0 are a fond memory, but just that, a memory. The time is now and the now are the Winnipeg Jets 2.0.

Except they are still called the Winnipeg Jets, without the release number. Just like they were. In, the, err, past.

Who cares about Keilback? I'm still upset that they never gave Dan Kamal a chance as the PBP guy. Kamal is one of the very best, and the team absolutely shamefully shafted him after he covered the Thrashers for so many years.

Did TN owe him or Kielback anything? IMO, they did the right move by sticking with Munz who worked for years with the organization.

Keilback was let go in Phoenix because he was having trouble keeping up with the play.
That explains why Keilback won "Sports Broadcaster of the Year" in the Phoenix area in 1999.

I've heard rumors of why he was let go from broadcasting Jets and Coyotes games, but it has nothing to do with his job performance. This thread may shine some light on the subject:
