A Pie was a minus 9 in 9 games and sent back to junior as a 19 year old.

Haha, well even if Hamilton 'only' became Brent Burns I would gladly take a 35+ point defencemen who can play in all situations

Yea. And he probably can't fight, either.

Thanks Lou.
I love this:

I think you guys are more surprised than I am, Hamilton told assembled media after his first first-star game performance. I think for me, I didnt have expectations-- I just wanted to come in and do my best. I have gotten a lot of opportunities, and Im playing with a lot of great players. It makes it a lot easier on me.

Agreed.
He appears to have a balance of self confidence, aware that others are needed for success as a team, and lastly all one can do is their best effort.

Hard to believe he's still a kid. I'm impressed in his maturity.

As Kirk said, he'll hit rough patches, and if he's on the wrong end of some goals, people will be on him like flies to doodoo. You can bank on that, especially around here. If Seguin keeps going goal-less, look out for the 72 page "Seguin for Subban" thread.

You have to expect him to have rough patches, it's how quickly he learns from them and rebounds that really matters. I fully admit I didn't expect this amount of poise so quickly. Can't ask for much more thus far.

the only bad part is that the bruins had to trade such a high-quality team player like phil kessel in order to get the pick.

Yeah. I feel bad for the independent Dunkin Donuts franchises who's sales have suffered since.

Agree, trolling just make the troller look bad. Reading and enjoying the lulz should be enough.

I have no hate for Toronto - it's funny that they whined so much about our "tank" threads when it certainly wasn't personal. I would root for ANY team to lose if the Bruins held their #1 draft pick, and Leafs fans would do the exact same thing. Now that it's over, I'll go back to being indifferent toward the Leafs, other than as a divisional opponent.

Yeah, that's why when you look up "delusional" in the dictionary there's a picture of a Leafs fan.

Here's the thing for me. I know some disagree and have a different take on it, and that's fine. But the way I see it, Kessel wanted out of here. This was during a period where this team was coming together, fighting for their lives to make the playoffs, finding their identity. I actually liked Kessel, but like a lot of other guys during the bad years, he went for the dough. Playing here and staying w/ linemates who'd run through walls for him meant dinky doo to that guy. Meanwhile, everyone else on this team signed extensions before hitting free agency, etc. True indicator that the culture had changed. Kessel missed the plot, made himself the oddman out. His former teammates were fittingly rewarded w/ a Cup.

We suffered plenty for the pick that resulted in Kessel. We could have ended up w/ squat, and didn't. I feel for the laffs fans, well, somewhat, but F Kessel.

Well, now they tank without one of our threads to root them on.

Did the Bruins draft another Hamilton we didn't notice?

Dougie's skating isn't off or slow it's odd. That is only because he is playing in the NHL and that is more from maybe hesitant trying to figure out if the veterans want him to take the puck. I clearly saw this in the loss against NYR.
