*ALL* PK Subban talk (News/Speculation/Rumors/Proposals) III
So you truly believe that there is only 1 outcome in this negotiation? Subban's demands or the highway? Really?
With Don Meehan as his agent, yes it'll be Subban's demands or the highway. All it would take for Montreal to cave is a terrible record, Markov injury, or they don't cave and instead they explore trade offers that are so attractive that they wouldn't give two cents if Subban would've made any difference.

...and that is fine. Are you saying PK @ 5mill per year is a bad deal?
5mil I would imagine is fair market value for someone like Subban. The only reason I said that is because with Don Meehan as an agent, he tends to solely look at his client's needs without negotiating compromises with the GM (why not just negotiate to the middle if term is the problem? for instance, 6 years vs. 3 years, why not buy some UFA years and make it 4 or 5?).
I wouldn't do Pk for either straight up. Plus must be on flyers side.
The plus would be: Both Bryan and Luke. Wouldn't do it myself but thereabouts is what I believe happens, perhaps less. Montreal has anything but an impressive resume when it comes to trades.
Sorry if it's supposed to be obvious. Unfamiliar with both
Well, now that they're on the same team it's a hard proposition to deal one without the other. Like dealing away a Sedin or Staal in Carolina. So both. Brayden is a forward with top six potential as a Mike Richards type. Luke is a rather large d-man who can hit like a freight train and is more into the defensive side of things.
Personally, if it were possible I'd rather deal Brayden and another forward then Luke but doubt that's possible.

I confirm that the # Flyers have submitted a bid for PK Subban that includes Sean Couturier.
A bid that includes Couturier implies they get more than Couturier. Assuming that "more" isn't Bryzgalov the Habs should take that deal and run. Couturier is going to be a Jordan Staal type player.
You're gone get ripped apart by other Habs fans for that proposal. Fair warning. Habs fans hold Subban in higher esteem then other fans so from a Montreal standpoint that's probably overpayment. I personally think its not far off though. Add a Philly 2nd and I think its fair although Habs fans wouldn't.
Shaky source but if true it implies more then Couturier is being offered in which case the Habs should run with it if they don't agree with Subban. I know I said I wouldn't do Coots for Subban, and I wouldn't, but it wouldn't be the worst trade in the world. We need a point producer and top guy on the back-end and our only area of excess strength is centers.

It's a really shaky source. Sportsnet is maybe a bit better than Eklund IMO. They'll say anything to get people to watch.
I like HockeyCentral but outside of that there is not much to like about them.
Couturier plus 1st would be a good deal for the habs but i don't think i'd do it to see Subban haunting the habs for years to come.
If i'm bergevin and this deal is on the table i try to sign Subban at the most friendly contract possible if he don't want to ( don't care about the years let's say a 5 years 4m) than you take the deal.
But if you take that deal the job isn't done Yet one of DD Eller Plekanec has to be traded too so it's another headache for the habs.
Couturier is going to be something special probably the second best player of the flyers in the next few years.
The funny thing the majority of habs fan would like this deal because couturier is francophone not because of his status.(talking casual habs fans not the one on hfboards.)
Like i said this is a deal that would make sens if we cannot agree on terms with PK. 1st option is to get him signed tough.
But a future line of Couturier Paciorretty Collberg could be sick.
Eh, Dregers notoriously reliable so I'm inclined to believe him.
I would not agree with this he is a huge leaf homer, If Mackenzie said it I would be inclinded to believe it. Dreger although not widley inacurate like an eklund he def doesn't get everything right, I wouldn't put it past him to stir the pot

Regardless, I consider Dregers and Mackenzie to both be the most reputable guys when it comes to breaking NHL news.
Something like Couturier and a 1st is probably acceptable, but in the context of a doomsday scenario where the Habs actually do have to trade Subban and I'd still be very disappointed if it came to that. I wouldn't do that deal for a signed Subban in a happier world. Couturier is of course very good, and may well one day be as good as Subban, but it's still not a deal that helps *BUILD* the Habs. It just swaps a great young asset we need desperately for another good-and-eventually-hopefully-great young asset, but doesn't leave us ahead in the long run. Normally you want to find a way to move ahead with your trades, or deal from strengths to address weaknesses. Defense is definitely not a position of strength for the Habs, even if big good young centers is a position of weakness.
