Choosing stick flex?

I'm 5'11 and weigh 155. I usually use an 85 flex and don't mind them but I don't seem to get alot of whip on wrist shots. I also always break them in the blades.
Should I try a 75 or stick with the 85?

I'm thinking of getting the sherwood nexon 12 and was wondering if their 85 flex is stiff or more whipy?

Senior or Intermediate? Have you tried Sher-Wood before?

From what I can tell Total Hockey only sells Sher-Wood Nexon N12 in 85 or up flex. Intermediate is 70 and higher depending if you cut it down

If you do go Senior 85 or Intermediate 70 buy from HockeyMonkey.com . They've got a 15% off for the rest of January if you use the coupon.

I'm a big advocate of low flex sticks. I say give a 75 a try. I'm 6'4 195 and use a 70 flex and have never had a problem with sticks breaking, so you shouldn't have to worry about it being too weak.

That's crazy. I'm 5'8 170 (trying to lose 10 lbs) and I still feel like i'm going to break 75/77 flex sticks.

I don't take slappers and my wrist is pretty weak too haha. I'm basically only good for passing and rebounds .

While your case is a little extreme, I agree with the durability comment. Way too many people think that it will be easier to break a whippier stick when the opposite is true. Without getting into mechanics, what I always tell people is that if I give them a wet (hence 'whippier') branch and a dry (hence 'stiffer') branch, which will snap faster? Performance, of course, is completely another issue.

I think that the majority of hockey players are using sticks that are too stiff for them.

As a flex nazi, I agree with the 75 recommendation

Looks like I jinxed myself with my previous statement. Just got a 75 flex mako 2 and broke it after about 8 shots.
