Not sure, but pretending we don't need a real #1 defender is not part of the solution. The way things are currently, I would just spread out the minutes more. Give some of the other guys more minutes. I would also try to make a trade. P.K. Subban would be nice. There's a guy who could at least be a #1 at some point.
We need a lot of things.
We played the vets last year. That wasn't right.
We're playing kids this year. That isn't working.
Trade the captain
Bench the sniper.
New coach? Who cares, still doesn't know what he's doing.
Being up Frattin. Send down Frattin.
Let's rebuild. Damn we can't beat Stanley Cup contenders.
Let play better defense. Crap they haven't figured it out in 5 games, let's try something else.
This is the Toronto Maple Leafs, they are not very good, haven't been for some time.
They are my team.
I support the coach, I support the captain, and I support every other player on the team.
I'm a homer...,and I have been for 45 years.
All the GM has to do is not trade our ****ing 1t round pick prior to the season . That's all i ever ask for , just keep the pick and let the season play out how it will . If we're out of the playoffs then deal any unwanted vets for picks .
Is this so freaking much too ask for ?
After the Kessell trade I doubt the Leafs will be trading their #1 pick for many years to come. So I think you can rest easy. I'm sure they will find another way to screw things up. Gerber,Devereaux's big night, that type of crap. Little fixes that screw us up for years to come.
Bozak and Kessel haven't played well together in any of the games this season (even strength). Too soft and are useless along the boards. It's time Carlyle broke up those two guys, and got rid of Kostka on the PP.
Bozak, Kessel, Lupul is broken they don't have the size up the middle, they need a powerful 1c to compete.
Is Carlyle even Nonis' coach? I don't think he is.
No. I think if Nonis had it his way, Eakins? (the Marlie coach) would be here. But he and Caryle are the same in style. I also wonder if Nonis is staying long term. we do things backwards (what's new). we always fire coach, hire coach, fire gm, and new gm has an old coach.
I have no clue whose out there GM wise I think we were dumb not to get Tambellini when he was available, let Nieuwyndyk go and be gm for Dallas, and Yzerman to Tampa. I lay that on the feet of Quinn and his ego (because we could have had Tambellini but Quinn liked you. know. who....)
But Im okay with Nonis (for that reason) and I don't mine Caryle.
But i want direction. If we're going full throttle, we need serious help.
If we're going to rebuild, we'll need to blow up the team down. I don't know the new CBA, but I bet we can eat up salary.
Team is terrible. Bozak and Macarthur are on the "top" line and Kostka plays 30 minutes.
Gut this thing like a fish and start over please. Trade anyone worth anything, stockpile young talent and picks to do this right.
Macarthur has no chemistry with Kessel or Bozak. JVR is the logical choice, Leafs are not going far without Kessel scoring. Got to get him going, I don't think Kadri is ready to play with Phil. Kadri is fine where he is IMO.
Mike Kostka, 27 year old Rookie Defenseman played over half the game for the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight in their 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers. He was -4.

But we need size.
(and bubble wrap LOL)
I agree. Rogers and Bell might even give the boot to Nonis and Carlyle in the summer.

How's that working out for .
I support the team and have for decades but just like any employee if they're not performing they have to be replaced .
Supporting the team doesn't mean you have to support individual players or the coach or the GM .
23 games into Carlyle's tenure and people are already sick of him and calling him a terrible coach, despite the fact he's won a Stanley Cup... wow
Well, he won that cup 6 years ago... With the Ducks

This ^ blowhard Burke and his big EGO came in and he went full retard and screwed the team up worse than ever instead of going into tank mode for a few years - Stamkos Tavares etc...
Rangers: 21 GP 3 G 7 A -6
Flyers: 22 GP 2 G 7A -6
Penguins: 24 GP 8G 9A -5
Boston: 18 GP 3G 6A -18
NJ: 23GP 6G 14A +7 ...that's actually pretty good considering the fact the NJ has a stingy defense.
How can we expect to win games against the top teams when our best player has no answer for them?
I guess saying Bozak and Kessel played on Mars tonight was a criticism of Grabovski.
Unbelievable the lengths some will go to.
They really need someone who can be effective along the boards with some offensive skill. Kessel was manhandled by McDonagh and Girardi all night long, but he still managed to get 4 shots on net. Normally, that leaves Bozak and Lupul, who could still manage some offense/cycle game. That's not the case with Bozak - MacArthur/Komarov.
When you hoard all the wingers who use their size onto one line, it's really not surprising that a team of giants like the Rangers will dominate the boards.

The Lightning and Islanders still arent very good, and they've gotten a whole lot more than just Stamkos and Tavares.

If by you know who you mean JFJ that is just crazy. That was the last thing that Quinn wanted. That was Peddie because he couldn't control Quinn as GM so he took the GM mantle away.

He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.

It's a moot point. With Lupul gone and Kessel getting more and more frustrated, I don't see him coming back.
He'll go somewhere he can excel, with better support and less pressure. For a team that can contend he is the perfect free agent.
