It would be awesome to get PK for a 1st and 3rd then we could take draft day off, go to the beach or something.(I know it would be matched)
I meant 1st, 2nd, 3rd assuming we give him one over a tad above 5 mil.

Anyway, I wasn't insinuating we do it, I'm just saying if I had to choose from both scenarios.

Does Ceci have the physicality of Subban or just similar offensive skills?

He's not a guy who openly looks for the big hit like Subban, no. And he's more of a puck mover than puck rusher but is overall a much more intelligent player.

It would be nice to have a very physical d man with some more prominent offensive skill in our d corps though. Sdao and Methot both have a bit of offensive skill but neither will be known for their offense. Cowen could be that guy if he is able to develop his offensive game further. We could always end up drafting a guy like Nurse to fill that role.

Aside from that I agree with you, Subban would cost way too much for what he would add to this organization.

This. Was sad to see him leave the 67s in a sense...can't watch him play anymore. However, I have been trying to be vocal about not getting Subban. The guy would not fit on our team -- he's too big of a personality, he fights with his teammates and he already feels like he's better than he is.

Do not want that guy. We have guys with just as much potential coming up the pipeline...it's not worth the hassle. Besides, this kind of speculation is silly...Montreal isn't going to move him and if they do it's not going to be in div.

I know it's early...but if Phoenix doesn't pull itself up I'd really like to target one of their d-men. I believe there was mention of Yandle going for the right price (and some discussion of it here) and if there was a way to get him I would pull the trigger on that move for sure.

Zibanejad + 1st + Bishop for Yandle is something I would do and should probably be around the right price.

Check is more like a Brent Burns Seabrook type of player than Subban.

We're never gonna get Subban.

I'm starting to think Gonchar is useless though. It's evident we need to trade for another D now.

We will have a better indication tomorrow. We face a top-tier team with their star players blazing and coming off 2 horrible losses they'll be pumped to play. We'll see how our defense holds.

What about pursuing Bogosian? I don't know if he's even the slightest bit moveable from a Jets point of view but it be interesting to see what he's worth.

Zibanejad, Greening, Latendresse, First? I also have no clue what the Jets needs are.

What do you guys think of making a run at O'Reilly? Him and the Avs are having problems coming to terms on a contract and supposedly, according to our "credible" "journalist" Garrioch, he is being shopped at the moment. The Avs are apparently looking for a young center and 2nd round pick, although I could see the price being higher. Zibanejad+ could be good bait to land him, although would we feel comfortable filling the contract demands of O'Reilly (supposedly 5mil cap on term)?

RoR is a center. Where would you put him?

Can't have too many good centres.

Lats-Spezza-Michalek
Smith-Turris-Alfie
Greening-RoR-Silfverberg
O'B-Regin-Neil

Would probably cost a roster player as well though. RoR is a 200 foot possession type player that could fit well into the style Ottawa plays. Not a glaring need, but I could see the sens sniffing around.

I don't think a ~5m third line center would be a great investment when we have guys like Zibanejad and Smith who can do it for 1/5 of the price. Assets need to be focused on building a contending defense

Turris has been arguably our most productive forward since last years playoffs.

Top 3 lines would be interchangeable, playing similar amounts of time at even strength i would think. Combinations would depend on chemistry.

Turris has been our best player thus far. He also has great chemistry with Alfie. Also, most people on this board won't know how good O'Reilly is.

If we had RoR I would put him on the LW of the Turris line.

You'd really be wasting the talents of a guy like RoR on the wing. Guy is a Selke calibre center.

I think the Avs would want Turris in a deal for ROR. Gets them their 2C back.

They already have Statsny and Duchene to center the top two lines, don't they? I thought the Avs were looking for defence.

If we didn't have Turris then I would certainly be interested in ROR. But really, I don't think he fits into our roster unless Turris goes the other way, like you said.

You would seriously give up on Zibanejad, our 6th overall pick not even 2 years ago, just like that?

O'Reilly would be well worth it but with Turris already there, where do we play them? They are both very similar player when you think of it.

Well Turris is starting to break out. He might reach some of that 3rd overall potential...

That being said, we'd have to equally split the ice-time of the first 3 lines...

Latendresse-Spezza-Michalek
Silfverberg-Turris-Alfredsson
Smith-O'Reilly-Regin

Like somebody else said, having both Turris and O'Reilly to fight for ice-time is a bit useless... And we already have a lot centers (like Smith, O'Brien, Zibanejad, Grant, Da Costa...), most of them do/would do a great job on the 3rd line

Finally, I don't even see how we could make that trade anyway... It would have to be around our 1st and a great prospect, because we can't afford to give a defenseman back

They'd probably ask for Ceci + Da Costa + Pageau (~1st, 2nd, 3rd) and maybe Gonchar for short term replacement.

I wouldn't make the deal because I could see this bite us in the ass real hard in a few years.

Wasn't there a rumor last season that we had a deal with the Jets about Buff coming here but it didn't go through because the Jets weren't entirely honest about Buffs injury or that the Murrays found out he was injured and the Jets didn't tell them or something.
