I completely agree, they barely squeaked into the playoffs and their players got hot at just the right time, absolutely a stars aligned kind of deal. I would expect another barely mediocre season from them this year.
They're looking pretty mediocre right now actually.
I am sorry but the kings last year ran into a lot of luck onto there cup win. ( which is needed for a team to win a cup). I know lots of people will discount this but to win the cup a team needs a lot of luck ( this means matchups).
Luck or not the dominated that series against the BLues. It was way less competitive than the sharks and Blues. Other than 1 or maybe 2 games the sharks played well except on the PK which was their undoing.
I'm not sure why it was so uneven because based on style of play I figured the blues and kings was a 7 game series. The match up seemed perfectly even.
But yes, the kings got maybe the best matchups they could have for them in all four rounds.
Should be a good opportunity to see where both teams stand, this will the first real test of the year for Vancouver.
Outside of tomorrow, I hope the Sharks do well this season. San Jose and Vancouver fans share a lot of similar disappointments over the past few years. I'm definitely cheering for you guys to win the Pacific.
I warn you though. Tanev and Schroeder have never scored in the NHL.

Well, looks like it's gonna be a 2-1 win for Vancouver, then!
No, make that 3-1, since a Raymond goal is inevitable with Schroeder in the line-up.
In all seriousness, though, from what I saw in the Avs@Sharks game, the Canucks aren't even remotely close in terms of game speed. Your first line playing at a competetive level during the lockout obviously pays off.
Canucks as of now are too slow to not take penalties. Nuff said.
We would need Niemi to suck big time and Schneider with an out-of-this-world performance to stand a chance.
Next meeting on March 5th will be a different story, though...
