Wow, Nash has been impressive. Pretty dominant so far in the offense zone with or without the puck on his stick. He is just the kind of big body we needed to create space for our guys like Gabby and Richards who need help in the corners. He hasn't been getting many bounces but he still has been producing. Love how many shots hens getting off.

It's gotta be so invigorating to play for a team where games
are meaningful again. Nash seems like a competitor.

Also, what a stud on the pk...

I don't know if anyone shares this belief and this might be a tad early, but Nash in the playoffs with a team who has a chance? He's going to be a beast. I'm already impressed with what I've seen, big body, the effort, but once he gets comfortable/settled.....

No kidding. Did you see him keeping the puck in the corner against 2 or 3 TOR players? Took like 20 seconds off the penalty by doing that.

And we had people saying that he's not a power forward? I've seen him use his body to protect the puck plenty of times. Like that Gabby goal yesterday. Knocked two TOR players off the puck in the corner to start the play. Just wait until he converts on all those chances.

According to the main boards playing like a power forward doesn't make you one, you also need to have an intimidating scowl while you're doing it to be one. Nash just has too nice of a face to be a power forward.

He fits my and clearly Sather's definitions of a power forward which is good enough for me.

I would like to see him try a shot more, rather than always trying a move. But right now the first line is not my concern with this team. Its playing to their identity, fixing the penalty kill and playing ahead, which we have always been good at.

When I think prototypical power forward, I think Cam Neely or John LeClair in their primes.

Nash's hands is what sets him apart. I've never seen anything like it on such a big frame.

Mario was lankier. As I've said if we're doing comparisons he reminds me of a poor, poor man's Ovechkin on the opposite wing.

right now i dont think there is a significant difference btween ovy and nash. ovy's a more predictable player than nash is these days and not more significantly productive.

Happiness Thread

Only happy things are allowed to be posted in here.

1. We're only 1 point behind where we were at this point last season.
2. If we could get the PP to work we'd be winning some of these games.

Kreider and Miller have some good chemistry so they both need to stay here and get good ice time because miller can make some plays and is tough for 19 and kreider has anasty shot and is healthy

We will turn the season around starting next game. If we don't I will make 1,000 chocolate ganache bars with caramel drizzle and vanilla bean ice cream and hand them out to homeless people.

A saving grace so far...

I know there's a lot of doom and gloom around here and trust me, I'm well aware we are going to have to start beating these teams...but our five losses have all come against teams that had at least 102 points last season (and we beat two of them in the rematch).

Yes, on the flip side these guys ARE all beating last year's one seed...so, props to them, I suppose, but this will further reiterate that we NEED to take care of business against the mid and lower tier teams. Trust me, I'm getting as impatient and annoyed as anybody but we should start to see an upswing.

Between tonight and March 16th (@Pit), we are playing a bunch of games against teams that need to be beaten.

12-5? I think that is a necessity.

Outside of the Pitt game, I don't think they've played badly. And where they've struggled and been bad should be correctable.

I actually do agree with you, I'm not panicking yet, it's just hard to watch them struggle after how dominant they were for a majority of the season. But you're absolutely right, they just need to shake the rust off. These next 17 games I think will help vault us back up top.

At the end of that stretch I expect this team to be in the top 4 in the East standings. With the talent on this team, there are no excuses. Hopefully this last loss can be the wake up call we need.

Last night was probably the best game that we've played in a loss. Our losses have looked much worse the last 2 weeks. I thought we outplayed the Devils but they scored on every good chance they got.
