Rattie is goalless in his 4 games since returning to Portland. 8 assists though, and a +4.

Hey, are Binnington or Schwartz expected to make the roster and stick between now and the 2014-15 season?

Schwartz will be has made the team for this year.
2014/15 is the earliest possibility for Binnington, but that is unlikely. We'd want him playing rather than on the bench in the NHL.
If you meant Schmaltz instead of Schwartz, then 2014/15 is the earliest possibility for him as well.

Schwartz has made the team out of camp, so he's an easy "yes." I seriously doubt Binnington is an NHL regular by then.

So, it wouldn't be a bad move to drop binnington since my prospect goalies are Markstrom, Desjardins, and Subban?
And sweet deal on Schwartz making it this year. Making this other keeper team I inherited look less terrible!

If you have faith in Subban then sure, but I would keep Binnington over Subban. That is more of a gut feeling in regards to Subban *.
I have not followed Desjardins, so no comment there.
*I realize this is way out of line with the way most think.

Pipeline Show guys did an interview with Colton Parayko, one of our lesser talked about prospects who is having a very good year for the surprising 5th place Nanooks of Alaska-Fiarbanks.
Haven't had time to listen but I saw it on twitter.

Parayko had 1 g and 2 A and Gardiner with 3 A. Kurker also picked up a helper. College kids are starting to step up a bit. Jaskins an off night with only 2 points...

Rattie with an assist last night. He and Jaskin have been such scoring machines it's a ho-hum when they have a 1 point game.

Gardiner picked up a total of four assists over the weekend, one on Friday and three more last night.
He's starting to inch his way up the depth chart at center in the organization, I think. 2-13-15, plus-5, 20 PM in 22 games for a first-year Division I program, and his two goals are both "money goals," one PP goal and one game-winner.
Still needs to fill out that 6' 3 frame, but when he does, he looks like he'll be a keeper.

With all due respect to Rattie, he's about to turn 20 and is playing on another stacked Portland team. We've known for a while that he can score at the junior level.

Your point is that a player playing his final year of junior eligabilities production should be discounted because they are 19 going on 20 or/ and playing on a stacked team? Pie played his final year of junior on a stacked team, didn't seem to hurt his NHL chances. If you want to tell me that Rattie's isn't big enough or skilled enough or his skating is good enough OK. He never got a chance to come to camp with the lock out and shows what he's got. Do you think he has NHL talent?

Maybe Rattie is part of the reason Portland is stacked?

I don't think TheOrganist was saying anything too bad about Rattie, just that his point totals don't really matter much in the WHL from this point on because we know he is more than capable of putting up good numbers there.
There is no doubt he has NHL level talent, it is just whether he will be able to put his game together at this level. His hockey sense has impressed me the few times I've seen him this season, so as long as he can put on the muscle I have high hopes for him.

He has a quick, accurate shot, sees plays developing well, and knows how to find the empty spaces to get his shot off without impedance from defenders. Despite the fact that he's not a speed demon and is not big, his skills should translate well to The NHL. He won't be a 40-goal scorer, but he should be a regular 22-30 goal scorer, with a few years in the 30s at his peak, and could be a couple-time all-star. He will get a lot stronger and should end up at 195-200 lb. So, I'm not worried about him being frail. He'll also learn to play defence. He's a smart player. I don't see him being a bust or big disappointment.
