I suppose if Bylsma had given Bortuzzo the nod instead of Despres, at least one could say that it was to see what we had.
With Lovejoy we know what we have.
I have nothing against Lovejoy as a depth defenseman. Ie. when he is playing because we have injuries. Otherwise I cannot see the reason to sit guys who could genuinely come to be solutions and are at this point surely no worse than him.
We might have to get back to that question after the first period. The Pens have come out looking strong to start game but just like last year they've blown leads and have a hard time playing 60 mins.
I'm not sure if its more about the other coach adjusting and Disco not countering or the players just hitting a lull. Either way the Pens have become so blah its annoying.
I don't know what to expect. Ottawa is either going to get an easy win or run over, it's impossible to say. There is no way I would put money on this game.

I was going to include this game in my treble but It's too hard to read. Never bet on my own team either as well.
Yeah there is a lot of anger here. I am part of it as well.
That said, even if we lose it really does not matter. And even in my anger I can step back and see the big picture. There is too much talent on this team to not make the playoffs. Hell, I will even go so far to say that this team will finish among the top five teams in total points in the NHL when all is said and done. They have not gotten less than 100 points in a few years, and those teams had similar issues for the most part.
And that is my problem. Who the hell cares if we lose to the Senators? I would take a half dozen losses in a row if it was because the Pens were actually putting a God Damn defensive system into place that will work in the playoffs. But instead we just roll up meaningless wins as we run and gun, just based on pure talent. So color me as not giving a flying fish if we end up winning tomorrow, or even crushing the Sens, if it is because of more of the same old stale losing stuff we have seen over and over and over.
It matters in that it would be nice to see something in this team that suggests that, notwithstanding piling up points in the regular season, this is not the same team that goes one and out in the playoffs. So far? Nothing.
ugh... don't like it. Last 4 years he has averaged 38 points with tons of ice time on in the top 6. I think there is a reason this will be his third team in 3 years.

You're silly. Who's ever missed the playoffs with a 2-3 record? Ok, I'm aware that tons of teams have. But, it's just a microcosm of the season. Not the end of the world.
