Most people's problem with the tron soundtrack seems to be that they expected a daft punk album, not a movie soundtrack. Many that didn't expect a 'normal' daft punk album seem to be alright with it.
Really over-rated as producers. They're still good, but because they were essentially the only act in town and the first to really break EDM ground in America (which they do deserve immense credit for) people tend to think they are a lot better than they really are. In my honest opinion Justice is very similar in style and ability to Daft Punk. While I'm sure I will enjoy the new Daft Punk album very much, I don't know if I would enjoy it that much more than a Justice album, that is how similarly I view them.
They're certainly good and their legacy will always draw people in to their music but there is a wide bevvy of better producers right now.
Wasn't so good just listening to it at a later date though.
I bought the soundtrack before I ever saw the movie. I like the soundtrack much
better than the movie, but then I'm an old guy, so feel free to ignore this opinion lol.
I even use Derezzed as one of my morning wake up tunes on my phone.
But haters gotta hate to stay haters, just like skaters gotta skate to be skaters.

I think you're confusing/mixing "better" with your own personal biases and tastes when it comes to electronica and dance music. Daft Punk are not only originators, but innovators who have been producing, DJing, remixing and sampling since the majority of this "bevy of better producers" have been in diapers. They aren't the played out, heat of the moment progressive or electro house of Avicii, Deadmau5, Calvin Harris or whoever else. Not to say those guys aren't good, because they are. But Daft Punk will always be better than any of these guys, at least to me. They ARE house music and dance music. No one knows what could happen to their sound generally speaking, since this will be their first legit dance album in 8 years. I expect it to be groovy, bouncy, lush, sexy and most importantly polished.
