I mean, if a GM basically begs MB to trade him Subban (with an offer looking like Jacob Trouba + Patrice Cormier + 1st rounder + 2nd rounder, with Winnipeg possibly being a team excluded from playoffs at the moment of the offer), then I'm sure he'll give this offer a very long look.
No one is going to offer that for a player who is unsigned as an RFA and is forcing your hand to deal him.
"Take this offer or lose him when his rights expire."
of course Markov making him eat crow is good enough for me, pass the ketchup.
I'm happy for Markov...but I'm also realistic about his health and injury prone, frail body... but yes I'm happy for Markov if he can stay healthy (and help out for once in the playoffs). But I stil lwant to see Subban come back so we can all see Markov and Subban on the PP together or on different units...
Markov is a Hab...I want every Hab to succeed, but I still wouldn't sign Markov to another 3 year contract.
To Masterdecoy:
I did a smart thing and put you on my ignore list so i can't see your posts anymore (*sigh of relief*) but I can still sometimes see your quoted posts which is a pain in the *** (not often though which is great) 'cause you're one heck of a bitter killjoy around here always putting many people down here. Yet it's strange...you still read my posts...why? do yourself a favor and just put me on your ignore list (simple solution). It's a little scary 'cause you're like a stalker always following and reading my posts and constantly bashing....why read my posts if you find them so annoying...? just be smart/mature/polite/classy for once and put me on your ignore list so you don't have to see my posts anymore. Thanks.
(if you don't like using the ignore option...just don't read my posts anymore so I don't have to see your quotes constantly nagging and *****ing...get a life and learn how to use the ignore option instead of wasting everyone's time with your bitterness and obvious sexual frustration...go bring your hatred and bitterness to a Leaf or Bruin Board...go pester them...see how they take your bitter/obvious sexually frustrated **** over there).

You know 100% that this will not happen right? The Jets GM will be fired if he ever did a trade like this. I am a big fan of PK, but there is no way PK worth that package.
Look...
I totally agree with you on the bolded one.
But the idea to trade him is not to get rid of him.
It's to get the best possible deal out of him.
Not a Talbot + 1st Rounder thing, or not the absolute optimal deal.
We're talking about PK Subban here. Not an over the hill keeper with a contract set to expire when people will be able to teleport.
If PK is put on the trade market, teams will come calling fast. It won't take you 5 weeks to move him or get the best offer.
You're talking about one of the best young Defenseman in the NHL, a huge marketable player, a superstar potential player, and again, did I say he's only freaking 23??? Which means, he's not even set to become an UFA before a few more years!
All 29 teams will call Bergevin if PK is on the market, and not one freaking team will offer a Talbot+1st, or anywhere near such a small return.
I would hope Bergevin puts him there just to see the interest. When he sees all the GMs calling and the offers pilling up, maybe it would help him realize he probably has something special under his hands and keeping him might be best.
At this point even though it would get Subban on the ice, I don't want him to cave and sign this ridiculous offer.
It will be full of resent and will end up in something messy in 2 years. I really hope for one of two things to happen:
1) They meet in the middle and give Subban a 2 year 8-9 million dollar deal.
2) A lightbulb goes off and MB signs Subban to a 6-8 year deal at 4.5 million per year.
If this happens I'll probably have to pinch myself a few times to make sure I'm not dreaming. It's quite sad, the Montreal Canadiens have gotten to a point where as a fan I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming when someone reasonable happens. I should be celebrating championships again, not this crap!

I hope, as a Hab fan, that somebody makes this kind of offer for Subban, and I'd hope, if I were a fan of any of the 29 other teams, that my team wouldn't make that offer.
Surely something should leak by now? We're into the middle of Sunday.
Pretty sure they said PK is taking the weekend and they're meeting on Monday.

Very real possibliity of this happenening. He's at home with his family thinking about what he wants to do.
Can't believe we've let it come to this.

I would. Apparently MB doesn't understand his worth. Why not just offer a piece of crap for Subban and see if you can get him.
Yeah, MB appears to be that stupid.

If that had been the case without a holdout, you'd be right. Now? I think he's an idiot.
Even if PK signs, we've done real damage to the relationship and PK's reputation around the league. Very stupid thing to do in the name of lowballing a player who's worth well more than what we're offering him.
I think tonight's game will be telling as to where the Habs see their team without PK. The undefeated Devils are an excellent challenge for us. If we trounce them like we did Washington and Florida, then what? Moreso if New Jersey comes out strong and we still beat them by 3-4 goals, which is as much as the Devils have allowed so far this season all games combined... Make no mistake, if the Habs were 0-3 so far the pressure would be that much higher on MB, but if we go to 3-1 and move up to 4th in the conference with 1 point behind Boston for conference lead with the next game moving us past 10% of games played on the season.... pressure would be on PK. Because we would be doing fine without him and also, he would probably want to be part of this.
Otherwise, say he asks for a trade... and the Habs keep doing good... I would let him rot until somebody overpays.
Is a player eligible to arbitration if he isn't already under contract?
I think it has something to do with age or years served, so maybe not. I think maybe it's if he signed a 1 year deal he would be so perhaps he'd have to just sit for 4 years or go to Europe.
MB appears to be taking advantage of what would normally be a human rights violation if not for a CBA.
At least in the case of Bogosian he is NHL ready. He isn't dynamic offensively like PK but he is adequate. Burmistrov has a lot of talent and may end up an elusive second line scoring threat.
I don't want to trade Subban but that's who I would target if we were trying to make a deal. Plus, Timmins loved Bogosian in the '08 draft.
I actually like that idea. Wouldn't mind that one bit. I haven't see that much of Bogosian, but Jets fans are really high on him. Burmistrov I'm kind of worried about, tough season in the AHL, but it is my understanding that he's also solid defensively. Plus, he's still very young. Drafted in 2010. From that draft, only Tyler Seguin and Cam Fowler have more NHL experience.

No I will not.
#1- If Subban signs for 3M that's on a short term deal. We should be signing Subban to a long term deal (6-7-8 years).
#2- Alienating one of our best young player over a difference of maybe 1M is a counterproductive thing to do.
#3- All Bergevin has done is drive a wedge between PK and the fans and his teammates. I assure you that even if MB gets his way on the contract, it will not have been worth it in the end.

Especially when, in two years Subban will ask for either Doughty money or a trade. He will still be a RFA but will be eligible for arbitration, and owes this organization little.
This feels to me like buying on credit. Sure, you don't have to pay now, but you will pay later, with interest.

2-3 solid games, a few good hits, some goals and everything will soon be forgotten. As for teammates... These guys just went 10 rounds against the owners to get better salaries. I really don't think they'll be mad at Subban.

Yeah, MB appears to be that stupid.
I'm not disagreeing with you on the poor evaluation MB seems to have, or his stupidity.
But the first part of my sentence was why I think not one would offer anything cheap.
If I'm a GM, and PK is on the trade market, I know every other GM will inquire about him, and many will put in offers, so I'm going to make a respectable offer right from the start.
But, people can start at that price, I seriously doubt it goes that way.
I'd be curious to know where Dudley stands on this issue. I can't believe he would actually be for this financial dispute with PK.
