listening to kiper and his mocks

is painful. the guy just isnt elite at his mocks. check out the guy from dallas daily news i believe is his paper, anyways a guy from dallas, he is a top tier guy for nfl mocks. kiper is not. chiefs taking joekel at 1 is a need, not bpa. star should go to oakland, if oakland ever wants to upgrade their d. i can see joekel avail at 4, but not star. werner is another guy to look at for d, a somewhat poor mans version of jj watt. he will be very good though. cleveland is interested in him.

I'm a fan of walterfootball.com . I don't get too into the draft, but it seems like a good site.

Other than light skin complection, Werner and Watt are nothing a like. He should be in the conversation at 4 though I agree.

That's a matter of opinion I guess. I think he's quite clearly better than Matt Kalil and I think he's a franchise left tackle for the next decade for the team lucky enough to take him. Most scouts and draftnicks seem to agree. Not saying they're necessarily right, just saying popular opinion is on my side. But I don't expect that to sway you, nor would it sway me. I trust my own eyes more than most anyone else.

I also think it will be mighty difficult for Big Red to pass up on Geno Smith. He clearly doesn't have a viable QB right now in KC, and I expect that if he likes Geno @ all, he'll go back to the well once more and try and start his run in KC the way he started his decade of success in Philly; by taking a QB w/ his first pick. So I think there's a chance Joeckel could be there for us.

Star is very good at what he does, but I don't believe in taking two down players that high in the draft and I think the difference between him and a replacement level guy is a lot less than the difference between one of the pass rushers and a replacement level guy at that position. Elite pass rushers are hard to acquire. Just look at the two teams in the Super Bowl. Aldon Smith has been phenomenal this year and Suggs, although not as productive coming off a torn Achilles, has been as productive as anyone in the league since he was drafted in 2003. Meanwhile, the NTs on each team: Isaac Sopoaga a 4th rounder and Terrance Cody a late 2nd rounder.
I think you're dead wrong pinning Star down to a role exclusively as a NT at the next level. Again, scouts and draftnicks actually praise his ability to adapt and view him as one of the most versatile DTs to come out @ his size in recent years. There's no doubt among the scouting reports I've seen that he can play the 4-3 or the 3-4 and in the 3-4 he could play NT or DE.

I also think it's a little misleading to totally ignore the player on Baltimore's DL who Lotuleilei draws strong comparisons to (Haloti Ngata). I remember during our run of success in the early 2000s, everything defensively started from our strong DL and we built from there. If we were switching to a 3-4, I wouldn't mind a DL of Cox-Jenkins-Star
*Jenkins being Johnathan Jenkins, a 6'4 359lb NT from Georgia that has a 2nd round grade.*

I'm not really dead set on anything though. I'd have no problem w/ Moore, Mingo, or Jones. I'd have no problem w/ Star. My first choice at this point would probably be Joeckel, but if we're switching to the 3-4, that might change, IDK.

The only thing I'm really set about is that I don't want Milliner @ #4. If we trade down, then fine.

I never said Star was strictly a NT. I said I see him as a 2 down player. I just don't value 2 down players too highly. Size wise and tools wise he resembles a bit of Ngata, but he doesn't have Ngata's pass rush ability nor his football IQ, which is why ultimately I see him ending up at the nose full time.

Kiper is usually pretty accurate both with his projections of where guys will go and how good those guys will be in the NFL. Obviously he's not 100% accurate, but he is probably one of the best out there.

I think this would hilarious just in fact to see all the vick haters reactions for the possibility that he is on the team next year.

EDIT: I'm not saying that this plan will work...just that it will happen.

Bump, not saying I told you so, but, well, apparently I'm not the only one who say this coming?

Vick doesn't make sense financially or from a football perspective. He strait up sucks at QB and is too fragile.

no, im impartial towards him. that being said i love how angry people get about him. I dont really want Vick back but Im also not sold on Foles yet. Chip needs to make his system fit the players he has until he is able to bring in all the personnel he wants.

The QB situation in my eyes (in no order):

A. Foles- Polished passer with zero athleticism necessary to run any sort of option scheme.
B. Vick- Has the athleticism (although diminishing) to run the option scheme, but a terrible decision maker, injury prone, and has a massive contract.
C. Draft a QB- Not too excited about this year's class. EJ Manuel has the size, athleticism, and arm to be a good one in Kelly's scheme, but I just don't think he has that 'it' factor. Geno Smith I wouldn't go near.
D. FA/Trade- Namely Alex Smith. I think Alex Smith is a stop gap more than anything. I don't see him as a long-term solution. Could you plug him in next year and compete? Probably, but next year especially, I'm going with a QB with some upside.

Sounds like Dennis Dixon will be signed. I figured he would be targeted. Seems like a #3 QB type. Can teach the system and play in a pinch if he has to.

Huge fan of Dennis Dixon when he played for Oregon. His game hasn't translated too well to the NFL though.

Really like the guy's performance last year. If he performs at the same level or better he's a definite first round pick. Not so sure about Johnny Manziel though in terms of where he might be taken in next year's draft

I really wish clowney was draft eligible. He'd be a perfect draft pick and just what the defense is missing. A game changer.

Is there a bigger fraud in the NFL than Ray Lewis? I absolutely can't stand the guy. He's such a hypocrite.

He would easily go first this year, so they'd still miss out on him. They would really have to tank next year to get a shot at him.

49ers should have won.

That was an obvious holding call missed
