Canucks - Sharks games are usually intense and highly entertaining.

I think our top line is starting get going. Daniel has had points in every game, Henrik has a PPG, and Kassian is playing huge. I think a key match up will be our 3rd line against their top line. Burrows is not a natural centre, but he has done very well in this relief role and Higgins / Hansen will out work Marleau and Pavelski.

The Sharks do look really good right now, however they have also somewhat feasted on CGY, EDM, PHX and COL. Not that our schedule is much more impressive, but the combination of SJS top players being in game shape and playing 4 weak teams somewhat explains Thornton and Marleau having 11 pts in 4 games.

Either way, I doubt this is a low scoring affair.

This is NOT the game to play undisciplined. Thornton-Marleau will eat us alive in the PP otherwise. Hopefully everyone goes in with a cool head.

I think this is going to be a special teams matchup. Tons of stupid penalties on both sides, at least 2 fights.

Overtime win for Nucks.

Henrik Sedin - 44GP, 10G, 21A, 31Pts

Henrik is also five points back of Markus Naslund for the all time lead in points amongst Canucks.
What happens if he passes Naslund? Will there be some big celebration? What would happen if he goes cold or gets injured and Daniel then eventually passes Henrik?

Win or lose I would like to see a disciplined, team game and better play from some of the 'rusty' players. The D need to be more consistent and get the puck out of their zone quickly.

Missing our second line makes it hard to defeat a team like the Sharks. If we can keep the score close, Nucks have a way of scoring a goal when least expected.

Have a good game, boys and no injuries!

This is a game where we will really miss seeing Kesler harrass Thornton.

In the wild, Orcas kick shark ass.
It's totally reasonable that this game be no different.

I wonder if Thornton will troll the Sedins with Kassian around.

Even with Kassian around, I hope he keeps "trolling" so Henrik can tool him again, like last time.

Hopefully Burrows catches a break tonight. He should already have a couple goals based on his usual shooting %. He's getting a lot of pucks on net. Only a matter of time before he starts rolling and ends up back on the top line, I'd think...

Which would free up Kassian to be a playmaking winger with Kesler. I wonder if Kassian might not supplant Kesler on the top PP unit for the season, as well, allowing Kesler to center the 2nd unit and take a bit less punishment in front of the net. The team will still need another shooting winger for the 2nd PP either way, though.

Kassian ads a whole new dimension to the Sedin's cycle game. He's so strong on the puck that he almost demands a double team - which leaves one of Henrik or Daniel open.

Thornton rarely fights. 2 years ago in the playoffs was sort of a desperation move to energize his own team.

Did Thornton fight? I remember Marleau fighting Bieksa, who did Thornton fight?

I dunno, I have a hunch that it will be Kassians play, not Burrow's, that determines who plays with the twins. If Zack's play doesn't slide too much I think he could be a fixture there for the next 5 years.

Sorry - you're right, it was Marleau. But he did fight Drew Doughty last year as I recall.

I actually hope Kassian doesn't have any more scraps this season. I enjoy fights, but I want to see Kassian make the most of this shot he is getting on the first line. Worst thing for his development right now would be for him to break his hand on a helmet, or get a concussion from fighting.

He doesn't fight much anymore. LeftCoast had it correct, think that was his only fight (at least according to hockeyfights.com) in the past few years.

Down memory lane....

I could also see the Newfie monster and Kass establishing some respect as well.

I don't think it's a problem as long as he's fighter other skilled guys. When he starts fighting plugs is when it becomes a problem. If him and Clowe were to square off tonight I can't say I'd have a problem with it, but if him and Burish dance I'll be left scratching my head at that decision.
