Iginla would instantly become our most established scorer although at this point maybe Segs has the edge IMO. Either way if it could be done you bring him in and put him on the top line and move Horton down. There shouldn't even be a question. Our lineup is just as insane having Horton on our 3rd line. That is insane depth.
I'd actually start him with Kelly and Peverley should we be fortunate to acquire him. Those two have some offensive skill, and we shouldn't just throw him on the top line because he's Jarome Iginla. That LKH line has established chemistry, and should be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to remaining together. Now if they struggle then yes, you could mix it up, but that would be the beauty of having a guy like Iginla on the club.
Also, playing him on the 3rd unit keeps him away from the best defenders on the other teams, which he has always faced throughout his career. You let him be the sniper on the 3rd unit and create mismatch hell for everyone we play, and roll him out on that 2nd PP as well, giving him plenty of opportunities to score.
And I don't recall who mentioned it, but I do not foresee having to deal one of Kelly/Peverley in a deal for Iginla. Calgary needs futures more than anything, and if we're going to deal an "established" NHL player, it would be Caron IMO.
Caron, Khokhlachev, Sauve for Iginla. Three young, talented forwards for Calgary's reconstruction, and they don't even have to flip a draft pick in there.
