CHICAGO – The Chicago Blackhawks will try to establish a franchise record for the longest winning streak at the start of a season tonight when they host the Detroit Red Wings (7 p.m., Fox Sports Detroit).
Chicago has the best record in the NHL at 5-0. It equals the best start in club history (1971-72).
“Great team, high-octane offense,'' Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey said. “That's a great challenge for our defense. I think we're really looking forward to the challenge.''
The Blackhawks are averaging four goals per game, tied for third in the league. They're led by a quartet of top forwards in Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp.
“Very high-end talent, mobile defense, playing the game real fast,'' Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. “Penalty kill has been real good for them. They're going to be a tough test for sure.

Really hoping that the Blackhawks are really tired from last night and they come out quite flat. Hopefully we'll be able to capitalize on it, we'll also need to shut down Kane, while Howard has to have a good game.

Seems like a big test for the left side of the defense, none moreso than one Mr. Kyle Quincey.

Glad we're facing them with our top three centers rather than pavs on z's wing. I hope big E is good to go.

Thanks for the GDT! If Big Rig can go tonight then Kindl must sit; I'll be pissed if they sit Lashoff or Huskins, both guys have been solid on D and deserve to keep playing. Go Wings!

This. Go with
Kronwall - Lashoff
Q - E
Huskins - Smith
Kindl was brutal last game.
Lashoff and Huskins has been solid.
I would rotate Q and Kindl until one of Colo and White comes back.
Than we will probably send Lashoff back to AHL

I saw an interview where Babs basically praised every defender for playing their best game against the Wild, but he didn't even mention Kindl. Feels like Lashoff is in front of Kindl right now.

Lashoff was exposed big time on the PK last game.
He's cost this team at least two goals in two games.

Kindl has been a mammoth disappointment since playing even semi-routine in the lineup. I will be surprised if he's still on the team after April.

I think that says more about our other guys than it does for E.
Okay, fine. I'll be extra careful in watching E when he's in next time. His tendency to chase after guys with the puck and leave his slot frustrate me to no end.

Heh. If he had three years of coddling like E got, he'd probably be even better.
