Wanna see a Knuble Arnott fight. One lives on, the other goes to the geriatric ward.

MONTREAL - Max Pacioretty underwent an emergency appendectomy Saturday evening in Montreal. He’ll be out 3 to 4 weeks.

In three games this season, the 24-year-old forward had registered four assists with a team-high 10 shots on goal.

Very fortunate we didn't sign Doan. Team captain and best forward takes a fight, with the team down 2, and less than 6 minutes to go. Richards thought he slew-footed Brown, who they're still going after. Of course Richards will take him off the ice.

Don't need someone here with those kinds of brains.

Carlson with a turnover in the nuetral zone leads to a oddman rush and a goal for Buffalo. Caps really are struggling with the puck in their own zone and the nuetral zone.

They've had three coaches in a year, each with different systems. No training camp to boot. Their core is also built for Bruce's run-and-gun system, so when it comes time to play in their own end most of the forwards look lost. We think our team has a questionable build; their's lacks all semblance of identity.

Oh yeah, its just a hodge podge of different pieces. Some remaining from the boudreau era, some from the hunter era. Truth is they do lack talent, and identity something that was not the case. Their window has closed in my opinion, and the sooner they realize that the better it will be for their future.

Yeah. They have to tear down and rebuild, but GMGM only seems to make horizontal moves and rarely does anything dramatic.

It doesn't help them that they have an incredible amount of cap space invested in OV and he's been steadily declining

I feel that Ovie needs a change of scenery massively. Either that or he needs the C removed from his jersey. I see what's going on in Wash as an even worse version of what happened in Philly. At least Richie was a solid leader by example on the ice, even if he wasn't committed to Lavy's "dry island" off of it, Ovie has no leadership qualities whatsoever.

The only question in my mind is whether Washington has the balls to follow in Philly's footsteps and trade their franchise guy. Time will tell.

It's a risky gamble for sure. Ovi pretty much changed the d.c. culture of hockey single handedly. This area was a football town solely and now its really a hockey town. Tickets to caps games are quite expensive and very hard to get a hold of. From a personnel pov its time to move ovie or amnesty him. I cant think of too many teams willing to trade for that contract when its going to be 1/6th of the cap.

if ovie is traded can the caps still be as popular as they are now? doubtful

I subscribe to the "fans follow wins" model of franchise-building. I think a star player can certainly captivate a fan base and get them interested in a sport as Ovi has done, but as has been proven these past few years, if you cannot sustain success, enthusiasm will wane. If you look at ticket prices on stubhub for non-peak games, they're the lowest I've seen in DC for a long time.

And even if you believe in "star power", I think Backstrom could easily be the face of the franchise. He's a top 15-20 player in this league (I would say top 10, but the injuries have raised some questions). It's not often that a franchise could trade their star player and still have a 100 point scorer to fall back on.

I think the DC fans (at least most of the ones I know) are now fans of the Capitals and not just Ovie, so if they traded Ovie but actually became better for it, they'd remain fans. Truthfully, I think Ovie's lack of work ethic has also begun to put off some fans.

As far as Ovi's worth goes, I think he still has decent value. At a minimum I think he could be traded for two top-6 forwards / top 4 defensemen. If he ever became available, even with his massive cap hit, I would not mind the Flyers exploring an acquisition. He could be magic on G's wing.

His cap hit is 9.5 million dollars. We'd have to clear an amazing amount of space. That's up to three core players gone.

I love watching the Jets at home. There is no crowd quite like them. They just came from 2-4 down to win in OT, Kane got the winner. Another 3 point game while we end up with no points.

that Sharks/Caucks game was something else. big hits, nastyness almost a brawl at the beginning of the game. Clowe earned 35 minutes. 20 of those came from a temper tantrum in the penalty box after he earned a double minor. He was yelling pounding his stick on the door. the guy was severely pissed off.
