But yeah, Miller blows at handling the puck too.
Of the two dmen Leo deserves the blame. Horrible zone converage on his part leads to Myers having to cross over and challenge the Cap in the corner. Leo should have been the guy going to challenge. Instead he is basically standing in hai spot unsure what to so. So he ends up taking himself out to the play.

I think that's a good adjustment.

Sigh...watch the reply of the Ward goal. Every game he is having trouble staying on his man/ reading the play in his own zone...offensively he is going well though.

Rob Ray the tactical genius with the telestrator. I wonder if Kathryn Tappen is doing the same on NHLN?

Watch the replay on the ward goal. miller shouldn't have played the puck. More to that goal than hodgson not tackling his man out front. Pretty sure Hodgson had a pretty sound game defensively on friday night. But either way you ignored my original comment about an unproven 22 year old taking on a big responsibility in only his second nhl season (half season). Bound to be some mistakes. I have personally liked his play, he hasn't been perfect but he has been far from bad in his first 4 games.

Ott is playing like Foligno should be.

Yes...it is Millers fault....

The caps colour guy just described that goal properly...ward got behind Hodgson...end of story

Hodgson's D has been fine, could it be better? yes. Honestly I though Ennis made more poor reads in his own zone than Hodgson in that period.

I have really liked the way Foligno and Grigorenko have played so far in this game.

This Caps team will fold like a cheap suit if we keep up the pressure and score quickly. Our defensive units look much better tonight than the last couple games against the Canes (probably 'cause the Caps are giving them all the time in the world to make a play).

Loved Stafford on our goal. Created the turnover, knocked th puck forward with his glove, made the pass, and then crashed the net taking two defensemen with him thereby freeing up Ennis. That was a great job.

Agree 100%.

Sakic, Yzerman said it took them years of hard work to learn to play defense.

Let's not throw CoHO under the bus his first year in this position (which he wouldn't be in if we'd been able to make a trade for a #1 C.)

Grigs looks solid from what I've seen. I think you guys should keep him around.

I thought Foligno's been playing well. He needs to be more aggressive though and stop trying the cute stuff.

get over it. I was really only centering on your comment trashing coho's ability to play on the first line. saying he has been overmatched. clearly he hasn't been and clearly you haven't been watching any of our first 4 games if you think overmatched is the best explanation of how cody has handled his first line role. end of story

Lets be clear, I like Hodgson, but he has a lot of work to do to get better defensively.

Its not the end of the story. Leo should have been there to help. Instead he did nothing. Hodgson was in position and lost a battle. It happens and is not indicative a bad defensive play. Bad defensive play is not realizing where to be like Leo

He's looked better this game, the first couple of games he looked lost, which sort of looked like nervousness. It's going to be a tough decision for sure, it sucks it's only 5 games, hopefully he continues playing well today and convinces management to stick him in Buffalo.

That was excellent work by Stafford on the goal for sure.

Fair enough, I am not disputing his offensive ability at all...my points are reserved for his defensive zone coverage.
