If Boulton is going to replace anyone on the 4th line I would rather it be Reasoner. Let Cizikas center Martin and Boulton
We are 0-1 when Law does not do the GDT - BRING BACK LAW!
I am guessing when i say the reason Boulton is in is that the coach wants to keep everyone in game shape incase of injuries. Also ideally you dont want your defence fighting especially with finley dressed put you down to many guys and our top defence are strapped as it is. Boulton is not going to hurt the isles defensively he gets a few goals here and there. But he will keep the other team honest. Carkner got rocked last time by lucic and maybe coach doesnt want him fighting. My thoughts on reasoner is the only reason he is in is due to him being able to win faceoffs.
Streit has been dealing with the flu (I recall Peter reporting so in last game's pregame), so he is probably just getting a rest instead of going out for the morning skate. So I don't think its an injury or anything like that.
Don't understand why Boulton comes in for Cizikas. If they want Boulton to play, insert him in for Reasoner so Cizikas can still play. Reasoner's a waste of space.
I don't think Cappy trusts Cizikas enough to put him in at center.
You also have to remember that Cappy has used only two sets of PK forwards (except when one of the four are in the box). Reasoner is part of that four. Those four haven't given up a pk goal yet. Cizikas has been used as the replacement when Martin or Reasoner have been in the box.
Also, I kind of miss Toyota. Obviously Nabby is the better option, but he had a few bad breaks last year and wasn't able to consistently show off the talent he does actually have.

Yeah, Monty is a really good guy.
He did show flashes of starter material but never really put it together for meaningful stretches.
I wish him the best of luck, except for tonight of course.
Just took a quick glance over at the WPG board and they all pretty much think the Jets will win this one. I guess it'll be another one of those "prove them wrong" games! Let's go Islanders!

Considering we've been bottom 5 the last 5 years or so, there aren't many teams (if any) that are not going to predict a win against us.
I'm hoping for a big game for JT, he's gotta get off the shneid. As someone else pointed out, he's gotta go back into his office and do his damage - 5-10 feet around the net. Too many long wristers from him, although it has looked much better in terms of velocity and release. We never saw it surprise goalies as much as it already has so far this year. Once he gets #1, 2-5 should come quick.
I am also looking forward to seeing Hickey play. Saw him at the scrimmage game in preseason and thought he looked pretty good. Hopefully Cappy gives him more than 6 or 7 minutes of ice time. Would love to see another big road win!!!

Every time I look at the opposing team's GDT, they all say the same thing. "Can't take them to lightly".
Should be a fun game. Isles win 4-2 with the 4th being an empty netter. Montoya will let in a soft goal or 2 with not having played in a long time.
Does anyone have a link or stats as to what percentage of games the Isles play against the backup goalie. We must see backups about 10-20% more than your average team. This season will be different because the short schedule but it would be interesting to know from the past 3-4 years.
Honestly I know nothing of this Hickey guy. What has he done that has everyone here so excited about him other then the obvious fact that Finley the enormous human turnstile won't be playing.

Well...
I kinda over did it a bit then I think in the Pre-Game Talk: Jets vs Islanders (Jan-27) thread. Re:
"We'll I think were in trouble this game, teams that are surprising , seem to only surprise us even more so, so now we know about the surprising NYI's, we shouldn't be surprised; with that now said we're gonna be surprised even more, so it's no surprise anymore... I guess... uhm... The only way we won't be surprised by the NYI's play is if in the pre game warm-up they roll out a cake and they all jump out of it and yell " supplies! ". Then we have a chance to not be surprised by how well they're playing this year."
