With Burns on the shelf I think this team should play the daylights out of the Boyle/Irwin tandem until Demers return. Irwin will gain valuable experience and if the 1st game was any indication of things to come, could be a mainstay. Did Irwin and Braun play together in Woostah?? 210 any insight??

Boyle/Stuart
Demers/vlasic
Braun/ Irwin
and, a solid group of five of these eight are under 27 years old. Bodes well for an 'already rebuilt' D for the future beyond Boyle.

Haha.

Seriously though, hopefully Burns isn't losing his freaking mind and that's the reason for the silence and lack of hygiene...

Well .. given that they put him in IR I hope they give some more details on the 'injury' sometime in the next week or so. If not, then I am going to start fearing the worst.

Just because they put him on IR (which is 7 days) doesn't mean they're suddenly going to release any information...might be a different story if he was going on LTIR.

Maybe I'm naive but from everything I've heard it's an actual injury.

Here's what McLellan had to say today:
Quote:
“From what I’m told, he’s improving every day. Obviously when you go on IR you’re not playing tomorrow, or we would have never done that. After that, it’s a day-by-day thing,” McLellan said.

Could he return by, say, Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14?

“I hope it’s earlier than that. But, when Brent’s ready and he’s healthy and there’s no risk to further injury, and we think he can help the team because he’s physically capable of doing that, there’s absolutely no doubt we’ll have him in the lineup.”

Brodie Brazil ‏@brodiebrazilCSN Read into it what you might: Burns' locker in #SJSharks room has been moved to corner next to goalies.

Seems logical. Goalies are weird and so is Burns.

Link or it didnt happen! Picture will work as well but Im not sure people will want to see that.

Not surprising. After what happened with Cheechoo, this is extremely worrisome.

Yep, it's been reported:

There has been no indication that he's going under the knife again. I think he would be moved to LTIR if that was the case.

Gotta get back before Irwin supplants him as the future #1 d-man on the Sharks.

In all seriousness this is great news. Hopefully it means Murray gets benched which is an addition by subtraction in itself.

Do you have a link to confirm this?

If this is true, then this is great news.

Probably Irwin though. This coaching staff is convinced Murray is some sort of defensive wizard.

I know Robinson is a pretty big fan of Murray but through the first four games Irwin leads the team in ESTOI and Murray is 6th among d-men. As much as people think otherwise, this coaching staff isn't dumb.

I'm not saying it'll be Murray coming out when Demers is healthy but the coaches clearly trust Irwin. He's making the decision on who comes out of the line up really difficult.

Unfortunately the fact he doesn't need to clear waivers doesn't work in Irwin's favor...

True, that' something that DW has to take into consideration - whether or not he wants to risk losing Petrecki (or McLaren).

Petrecki probably clears, McLaren is 50/50...just my guesses, of course.
