Yeah, I've been noticing the same thing. It's really slowing the game down.

Thank goodness Neal scored that goal, otherwise, what a horrible period for him.

Just take Kunitz off and put Niskanen on. Let Malkin and Neal work the right side, and get Sid down low. Then you have two one time chances from both sides of the ice with Sid working for rebounds.

We're winning by talent right now because tbh I don't think a single one of our top three lines has any chemistry at all. Kunitz-Sid-Dupers isn't working at all. Malkin and Neal are still doing their thing but the third wheel on that line is mostly dragging them down.

Sutter's line I haven't noticed at all since they took Kennedy off of it. The fourth looks alright.

Defensively I actually think we're alright. Tanger-Niskanen is working and Martin-Orpik have been solid. The third pairing is a mess but that's because DB insists on playing the atrocious Ben Lovejoy.

The biggest positive of the year so far that I see is that our goaltenders have been good every game.

I know he scored the only goal so far, but Neal's looking really sloppy today. He's made a couple of really, really boneheaded plays.

And Kunitz continues to bug me. It's one thing when Sid or Geno make bad passes when they're trying to be fancy, sometimes that's what you get with ultra talented players. But Kunitz is a bread and butter North/South player. He shouldn't be making the same blind passes or silly plays.

The Pens still look off. Apart from Sid and Geno (and Neal's scoring ability), there just looks like a real lack of offensive ability on this roster.

Not really. They have a hole on the 2nd line wing & that's about it. Other than the hole created by putting Lovejoy in the line up it's a pretty talented team.

I noticed even before Cherry went off about but he's absolutely right. It's gotten out of control. Just drop the puck.

"When the Big Dog drives the net, good things will happen."

I wonder how many times they have tried to drive this point home with ET. Hopefully is sticks.

The sad thing is he's done it before, but nobody noticed since it didn't result in a goal.

I went back and read after the goal, boy....you guys are desperate to find ways to pump up, ET.

There's his one good shift, there's still 2 more periods.

If Kunitz and Dupuis decline at all there's huge holes on our first line. Both of those guys are 33 if this is the year either starts to decline we're in trouble.

That said it's early yet so hopefully they turn it around. But they've been really really bad this year.

The Root Sports team must have marching orders to pump up Tangradi as much as possible.

It's almost needed since there are more people out there that want to tear him down.

If they want Tangradi to produce on the scoresheet he needs to be placed in Kunitz's spot on the power play. Right now he's not a 5 on 5 player in terms of production but he could be serviceable on the pp. But, hey Bylsma is our coach. I don't expect it to happen

Defensively that third line looks fine but without Kennedy it really takes the scoring depth out of it.

Martin & Niskanen continue to be our best defensemen.

Kunitz has really not shown anything. It really worries me because if his offense leaves & he's at the age it wouldn't be unheard of, we have two top 6 forwards to find.

More like 3, but 2 would be nice nonetheless.

Haha seriously I was thinking the same. Nevermind the perfect pass from Geno and unreal release from Neal. No, Tangradi drove the net!!! What a play!!

If I had the time I'd go back and re-watch the previous games this season. I haven't noticed him driving the net when I expected him to, but that also may have just been a timing thing.

Seriously, why is Kunitz on the 1st PP unit? He's not a good net front presence, and he's hardly a guy gifted at scoring garbage goals. To make matters worse, what's the point in Neal being on the point? It's almost a waste of his goal scoring ability way back there.
