barring a last minute reassignment of Rundblad, the Pirates will not have a representative in Providence, correct?

The AHL will try to make sure that every team is represented so if they need to make roster changes between now and then they will attempt to fill it with a player from Portland. That said, if not... Portland will not have a representive in the All Star Classic.

Pirates lay a stinker in Providence
By Chris Roy Published: 26th January 2013

Quote:
What’s that smell you ask?

It would be the odor of the rotten egg laid by the Portland Pirates, Friday night, in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Pirates gave up a pair of Torey Krug power-play goals in the first period, and never recovered en route to a 6-1 loss to the Providence Bruins in front of 8,599 at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

Always was a great skater. Wonder if he would move to forward.

Summers tops among AHL’s fastest

PROVIDENCE – Portland Pirates defenseman may have been a late addition to the AHL All-Star Classic, but he certainly took advantage of the moment to leave a lasting impression in Sunday night’s AHL Skills Competition at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

I actually really like him as a defenseman. I think he is NHL caliber right now, without much offense unfortunately. I hope he gets moved to a team that will give him a chance if he isn't going to get one here.

And that 'stache is filthy.

"Summers, not known as particularly fast skater,"

His skating was one of the main reasons he was drafted so high.

Maloney still thinks highly of Summers. I just think he is the odd man out right now. There's not enough room available to try a #6/#7 type. You've got 2 talented guys stuck in line in front of him, and Gormley scheduled to be ready come next camp. Trades will be made sooner rather than later.

UNFORTUNATELY, Providence gets trumped by its parent club, IT MAY BE NESN's telecast of the AHL Classic, but it's on the same channel the Pirates use for 8 Saturdays TW 9
