Cage isn't permanent, but should be if you ask me.

He was injured in the KHL and is wearing the full face cage to protect the injury and the titanium p,ares he was in his face from having his face caved in by, Svitov or Chistov or some monster big guy with a name like that. Can't remember which.

I wonder if Anaheim would fall for Eller, DD and a first next year for Getzlaf, that would give us a true first line.

He reminds me of Ryan O'Byrne and Sergei Kostitsyn, too players who played badly in Montreal due to low confidence, then reached their potential elsewhere when they were trusted by their coaches.

The problem with Eller: his potential is far higher than 5th dman or 3rd winger.

Really? I have read many claims about him being just that. He is a good kid and a decent player, I refer to him as Lars Moen or Travis Eller because thats the player he reminds me of. He can have a great career as a solid third line center. He is not a fighter like Moen but he is relatively sound as a defensive player and as a future PK specialist. There is nothing wrong with that, but if you expect him to be flashy like A Gally or Max Pac then you will be dissapointed. He has not been poorly used, he is just not the player that will be an offensive beast, just a very solid role player.

It would be interesting to know how different these posts would be if Kovalchuck had scored on the 3 on 1 created by Markov...

And imagine, just imagine if Subban was back and made such an audacious play...

But none of that happened so GREAT WIN against a good E. Conf. opponent! I said Markov would make far more difference than the "experts" were saying. Some talked as if he would make no difference. Shame on them and WTG General!

They can play 5 games. On the 6th game they're here to stay.

I LOVE the level of compete we're showing this year. It's like watching a completely different team out there. Hockey is fun to watch again. Also shows what having a stud defensman can do for a team. If we could manage to get a big, skilled number 1 centre this year, I think we might be able to do some damage.

Should read that back again.

He has alot of potential. More than you figure. A player with this kind of skillset just needs some grooming and confidence.

Moen has stone hands. Eller does not. If you think he has stone hands you didn't watch him last year. For all his many flaws last year being bad on the puck was not one of them. He clearly has zero confidence.

This doesn't mean Eller will be more than a 3rd liner You could be right. He might always panic when he gets the puck, who knows. He won't be the first who can't put it together at the NHL level. But comparing Eller to Moen skill wise it's not even close.

I am satisfied with the level of effort right now. It actually looks like everyone gives a damn. How long has it been since the last time we could say that?

This goes to show that some fans either don't watch the games, or watch them sporadically or they are clueless.

Your pick.

I hope he proves me wrong, I am a fan of every player that wears the jersey and wish the best for all of them but I also face the fact that not every new player that comes in here is going to be Guy Lafleur or Steve Shutt. If he becomes a great player then I will gladly admit to being wrong, right now I just have not seen enough to put him in the category of an elite player in the making.Cheers.

Yes, said he loves their intensity and was happy to see them be responsible for 2 goals.

When asked if Galchenyuk would be staying with the big club, he said that he knows we're excited to find out and that he'll be telling us his decision this week. He said the decision will be based on Galchenyuk's play alone (has nothing to do with Pacioretty's injury) and what's best for his future. So far he likes what he sees from him on and off the ice and is encouraged to see that he's already learning and progressing.

Well if you watched Eller for the first time today, I can see why you'd think that. No confidence, out of position and focusing on "intensity" afraid to look anything like a perimeter player.

Therrien has a good track record with young players, but maybe Eller just can't fit his system. It's just a shame we are destroying his value before getting rid of him.

What worries me is that 100% of our ES goal production tonight was from our bottom 6..

I watch every Habs game.

I am not impressed with Eller and it appears he is not progressing. Other people have noticed the same. He needs to step it up. Plain and simple.

Damnit, just make the decision already. Offensively he is already one of our better players.

God damn people. He played only two games, and i tough he looked good on the wing tonight. Patience. Therrien is doing a great job this year. Even Rene Bourque plays hard!!! Who would have tought that!!

So far Chucky and Bourque has been the most pleasant surprises, wasn't sure Chucky would be ready but he looks it. And if Bourque keeps working like he has the goals will start coming. Biggest unpleasant surprise so far has been DD being in such a fog though he did win that big draw at the end.

Not surprised by Markov per se since knew hed had the talent but very happy obviously.

That's understandable, look at the defensive accumen of the Devil's top six. Zajac and Elias are remarkable defensive centers.

The difference between the teams on ES is that the Habs' bottom six is more talented than the Devils.

You look at that as a negative. I look at that as a positive.

Our top 6 will have games where they are not scoring. Every team has that problem.

It is reassuring to know that our bottom 6 is capable of producing goals, especially timely ones like tonight.

Thats not really true, I have been watching our Habs since the mid 70s and have seen many players come and go. I am not being harsh on the kid, I am just wanting to keep the expectations low when it comes to some players. If he blossoms into something great, then I will gladly admit my wrong, I am rooting for him but my expectations remain what they are.
