Not enought praise for the Captain on this PGT..........Gionta have been the best forward for me tonight( 2 penalty against him). If Armstrong and Bourque can stop missing the net, i would be happy.

Great bit of strategy by Michel Therrien on that last play. This coach deserves props for using what he had very well.

Some of us have been saying this for a long time but it's apparently blasphemous.

Playing on the wing shouldn't hurt what Desharnais does best as long as he has linemates who can cover and let him play an open game. Eller is more comfortable with the puck in the middle anyway, since it's the one thing we know he's good at offensively.

Damn, 27:08!

One of the things I really wanted to see this year was Emelin becoming a legit top 4 D. Well on his way.

The D will look good when Subban is back. And even better next year when Tinordi is hopefully ready and Bouillon retires/is a 7th.

Full disclosure... I didn't see Therien make the comments. The comments were apparently made during Antichambre on RDS when MT was on the panel. The comments were attributed to him by a reporter last week.

If that's the case, then we should just trade him and get it over with.

If it's not the case... then forget what I said.

I'm actually shocked at this but the way Emelin and Diaz look this year, replace Weber/Kaberle with Subban and we actually have above average starters.

Assuming PK is back with us, our D for the future looks pretty good. Goaltending is solid. We just need the forwards...

Especially if you consider we have all of Tinordi, Ellis and Beaulieu in the AHL who could all be ready within two or 3 years. We could actually have some munition to improve elsewhere.

Even though he hasn't scored, let's buy out Bourque. What do you say ?

He needs to hit the net, but love how he's playing. He's a streaky scorer and if he starts scoring at the right time for us...

absolutely. people were rough on him last year but he had no one to guide him into the nhl like markov.

the guy has an unreal skill set and people were blinded by trying to watch him adjust. he's still figuring out the game, and will only get better in time.

the guy is much better than komi in every area of the game. don't think pk's style matches with his per se; however, I do believe him and beaulieu will be a very 3-4 combo in a couple years. beaulieu reeks of markov-lite. just my opinion, but hopefully by that time pk is staying out of the box and is the clear cut number one.

Some tidbits:

1) David Desharnais:

was he not hurt while playing in Europe this winter? That would explain a slow start.

2) Lars Eller:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_El...eer_statistics

When you look at his career stats, I can't believe some see top 6 potential in this kid. When has he ever showed that level of talent?

I mean yes he was a former first round pick... but there might have been a reason why he was traded.

I can't see him play center in the top 6. The only role I saw him play well was in a defensive minded 3rd line. Problem is, our three first lines are all about offense right now... so again a fit problem.

Maybe with injuries, he will center a defensive 3rd line again.

For the skeptics, here are David Desharnais career stats:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_D...eer_statistics

At every level played, David Desharnais has produced significantly more than Eller.

Is it perhaps time for a Markov photoshop thread part 2?

How many more ways can we make him eat corn on the cob??

One of my new projects is going to be to look a back on video from last year. The WOWY's are very clear that Desharnais as a center is massively better with Subban behind him. I'm pretty sure it meant DD spent a lot less time as a puck carrier as that was Subban's job, and DD contributed more as the nexus the puck could flow through between the three puck carriers in Pacioretty, Cole and Subban.

Meanwhile, Plekanec plays far better in front of Markov and not as much by Subban, I'd guess because his style is better served by quick first passes which he takes and carries straight forward with speed. Look this year how much of a track meet Pleks line has turned the game into when getting breakout passes from Markov and a lesser extent Diaz.

Markov and Emelin reminds me of Markov and Komi of the past. Best part is Emelin is far better offensively than Komi could ever hope to be. Great combos. Now we just need PK - Gorges and we're set on D.

it's bologna on here.

why is it okay to ruin dd's confidence but not eller's? dd played well last year, off to a slow start, and people want him relegated. I don't get it.

eller hasn't done anything yet, has been given a couple chances and already galchenyuk is showing more potential. the guy needs to work with what he is given. he keeps banging away, doing his job, and he will get his chance. it's a team game.

Are you trying to compare production in the Q and ECHL with the SEL? Eller has played against men since a young age.

He also outproduced DD during the lockout in a more difficult league.

But this is a pointless comparison, the two players have very little in common.

Review the play. DD et Bourque were doing what they need to do. Markov let Cole a chance to have the goal... Cole wasn't up to it at the moment, so Markov finish it.

Markov... how would have have been the last two seasons just with him...

Any way, for Diaz and Emelin, hope they learn from him. The truth, any def playing with Markov seen to be better then he is (Souray, Komisarek). Streit had.

then again WOW for Markov!
