I can`t believe that is the same man.......He is SO much calmer behind the bench now days......I watched him here in Fredericton back in the days when he was throwing things on the ice etc. etc....But he certainly has matured and is a FANTASTIC COACH ! He`s doing a great job playing the right guys at the right time IMO...He`s not afraid to try new players on the PP (love it !)....It`s been a long time since I`ve seen 4 balanced lines in Montreal and he`s a huge reason why. HERE`S TO A FANTASTIC SEASON MICHELE !!
In the beginning it's always positive wait next year
Up until last year we've had one of the top powerplays in the league year after year. So how's is MT playing a huge part
That`s funny because I remember last years PP not being able to score in a ##### house and the SAME PP unit out there time after time after time...........MT will have the guys that deserve to be out there, that`s all i`m saying.
I have to admit the team is exceeding my expectations right now.
They are trying to win. They just beat a very good team, a team that is probably top-10, in spite of Subban and Pacioretty not being in the lineup. You can say it was due to luck, and it was, but even being even with the Devils in these circumstances is encouraging.
They go for the puck aggressively, there is a lot of forechecking, they only had 4 penalties this game so there is a lot of discipline, they fired 32 shots, and there seems to be less dump and chase.
I think so far (and I know it's only been 4 games, that's all I can judge him on) he's done an outstanding job. No complaints really. I was a bit worried during the first game, but I guess he was experimenting a bit due to the lack of preseason. This team has kicked into high gear much faster than I expected, and I include MT in that. I've been more satisfied with him that I've been with any coach in a long time.

His handling of Eller is very suspect. Overplaying Bouillon could also turn into a problem, but I'll give him a pass on that for now until he gets a feel for what Emelin/Diaz can bring and Subban gets signed.
But overall he seems to have done a good enough job so far. How he handles MaxPac's injury and when we hit our first slump will be quite telling.
Mostly happy with his bench management so far. Better use of Eller might prevent Plekanec from burning out as DD is not getting the #2 role done, but besides that I like how he's using the 3rd line as a sheltered scoring line, a role it's thriving in. His defense personnel management has also been great, except I worry Markov will burn out at this rate. But that should be solved by signing PK.
I'm a Therrien fan but I can't say I've been impressed by the last three wins. I thought those were terrible games with many mistakes and two of them were terrible opponants. I'n happy with them but I'm waiting to see a big effort with a lot of hitting and skating from the first minute of the first period to the last minute of the third.
You don't change a team philosophy with 3 new players...
To be honest, it's more than just 3 players.
Gionta missed most of last year and Markov played a handful of games. Those two are like bran new additions too.
Not to mention, the Bourque we're currently seeing has absolutely nothing to do with the one from last year.
We also started last season with Engqvist on the 4th line with Weber on the wing. I mean, how useless were we trying to make our last line?
We start this year with a defined fourth line.
What helps though is that we have two rookies that don't look out of place. They remind me of when Subban was kept here. Never looked out of place, and only improved as game went by.
Our team is much different than it was last year.
I'm liking what I'm seeing so far, especially after that snoozefest in TO. Still only 4 games in, but so far so good. However, I have my reservations on Defense. Having PK there would really solidify it. I'm praying we can get a deal with him soon and see a Markov/PK depth on D. That would be awesome, especially with Price playing like he has.

I actually think the team is playing well considering it's only game 4 with no camp.
But I'm happy with the compete level. Can't say our team didn't put in the effort.
I think you might be expecting a little too much. We don't have a team to skate around dominantly and physically impose our will for 60 minutes.
Is it ever refreshing watching our favourite team play some real hockey, the way it's meant to be played, instead of that stuffing and offense smothering style under Jacques Martin? I sure don't miss that guy! Two man forecheck, the odd stretch pass to make them respect the team's speed, the necessary toughness, confidence in young players... what a change!

You have got to be kidding me.. Washington and Florida are far from being terrible opponants, now we just beat the stanley cup finalists against freackin Brodeur and you're not impressed?? The team never slowed tonight nor last wednesday. Wow seriously dude, quit the game now if this week wasn't impressive.

They may not be terrible but they are struggling badly. They are 14th and 15th in the East.
