My judgement? Even though you're being sarcastic and trying to bait me..

He's not been very good. He hasn't been as bad as some people say, and teams being so worried about our first line has opened up the other lines.

But no excuses.

He's been the 5th or 6th worst Hab this year. I'm still not worried though because the effort is there.

He is always on the ground, I feel he is like Benoit Pouliot, no balance at ALL...

I hope he did not think he made it so he stopped working.. hope its not the case.

The big difference is that Galchenyuk is in the managed minutes role now. Desharnais now plays Gomez;s role.

Fortunately his line has been doing pretty alright defensively on the whole even if the goals haven't come.

Also if Cole didnt hit like 3 posts, I think his stats would have looked better too.

Feel free to prove me wrong if you have the numbers but even though Desharnais isn't killing us, he does some outmatched in this role. This is the second game in a row he didn't get a single shot on goal. His linemates are positive defensive players, but I'm not sure how much of that can be credited to DD.

I would attribute it to Cole and Pacioretty being beastly at getting the puck from one side of the rink to the other and wouldn't give DD much credit. Put as a 3 man unit they kept the other side from getting into the scoring areas very often, which is always good.

Right now Desharnais is the guy most missing PK from the lineup. He's a massively more effective player when he has 76 behind him.

I'd theorize that having a brilliant puck possession two-way defenseman carrying the puck and feeding the forwards allows Desharnais to focus on the things he's good at rather than forcing him to play the 200 foot puck control game you usually need from a center.

Meanwhile, Plekanec is probably the guy most helped by Markov being back.

With Pacioretty out, DD is gonna get a lot more of this treatment. He's still a useful player. Maybe a little bit less ES ice time would do him some good. I wouldn't mind seeing him take some of Plekanec's shifts on the penalty kill.

Plekanec is our best penalty killing forward - but IMO, with Pacioretty out, he's our best even strength forward by a wider margin. I think others could pick up some of his workload shorthanded. Desharnais was effective on the PK in his rookie season. He's a smart player, I think he could be an asset on both special teams.

2011-12: 3:13
2012-13: 3:56

Trop too much. And I don't think you want this year's rookies doing that job either.

I think Eller is the guy you should be looking at to fill Pleks shoes on the PK. He was phenomenal as the 2nd guy last year.

I agree, and I think it's pretty much inevitable that Eller will end up doing some regular PK work. I think there's enough time to go around, if we take a minute or two away from Plek.

I was surprised to not see him out there much (if at all?) on the PK.

I wonder if Eller doesn't start to produce next game(equal games) if there will be a thread about what's wrong with him lol

DD hasn't been producing, no doubt about it. Him and cole have been underwhelming to start.

He played on the PK in his first game against the Leafs.

Tonight he got 8 sec on the PK.

True. It just seems natural for his player type, that it'll be part of his job one day.

Well, the Gallys have basically taken the DD line's place as the soft minute exploitation line...

I'd like to see DD and Eller switch position before sitting anyone for Blunden.

I didn't think Eller should've sat the other game. Still with max gone I don't think it's same circumstances now.

Which is the way it should be. They are our future, and a good way to develop them is to give them soft minutes exploitation.

I am thrilled to see this. It's a welcome change from the Carboaching era of throwing the rookies into the future. I remember seeing a first line od D'Agostini-Koivu-Pacioretty back in 2008
