Sorry Eberle missed 13 games in his rookie year and finished the year with 43, so he didn't break it my bad.

In the Oilers fan's defense.

Eberle had 43 his 1st year, and 76 last year.

That is, according to this

http://oilers.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8474586

I hate to do this, because you're one of my best friends on here Wolfe.

***EDIT***

I think I misunderstood the statement...didn't I?

Avs are better off just letting O'Reilly sit out than getting Gagner in return and probably paying him $3.5M+ next season.
Well thank you for the compliment!

No that's what it would take to move Oreilly....

Its quite laughable that you think Oreilly and Gagner are even in the same ball park of value. Taking Homer to a whole new level.

As for the Kessel + Bozak offer.

I honestly have no idea what the Leafs would want to fill in the blank? Im guessing if you're moving Kessel you'd be rebuilding. So I would think a 1st round pick would be of interest?

Oreilly + 1st for Kessel + Bozak? Dunno about the value there.

Right, the Oiler guy I quoted used O'Reilly's 26 points as his bench, if I said 44 it's make my statement no less impactful, meant to point out how silly it is to say a player has only cracked a certain points threshold once in their very young career. If O'Reilly's breakout didn't count, why would Eberle's? That's what I was getting at.

Still absolutely confused why his defensive game is suddenly not a difference maker, yet only a few months ago people we're swooning over him. Avs won't give him up cheap, why pretend you can negotiate a discount on a fan forum by ignoring his obvious defensive superiority?

Would take a bit more. Me personally would want Seimens but even then i dont entirely love that deal. I dont think Kessel should be dealt.

I never said Eberle wasn't clearly better, I scoffed at the Gagner being close to ROR remark. Comparing the two is like comparing O'Reilly to Eberle, they just aren't in the same league.

Kind of funny that Eberle is one of the best wingers in the NHL but O'Reilly is just a great 2/3 center. O'Reilly is also one of the best defensive centers in the league, giving the likes of Datsyuk a run for his money on any given night for the better defensive forward when matched up head to head.
O'Reilly isn't and never will be more than a 2/3C. He's a good 2C or an elite 3C with the upside to become a very good 2C.

No worries bud.

I'm surprised any Leafs fan would offer Kessel... unless he may not get extended, in which case I'd assume the Avs would have equal if not more trouble extending him.

He more than likely willing to sign here. He really loves the city, has a girlfriend here, has friends on the team, and some speculate that Lupul signed long term to stay with Kessel. However, if you havent heard the sky is falling in Toronto and anyone worth anything should be sold to rebuild with pieces 5-10 years away from being anything useful.

Not once did I say it didn't count, Eberle had 43 well missing a few games and followed it up with 73, ROR had 26,26,55 I said i want to see him put up another good season to follow this one beofore I would put him in the best young player disscusion. Also I have said is the defense game that makes him better than Gagner this whole time but not to the extent people are saying.

21? Coming off a 55 point season? Incredible defensively? Lead the league in takeaways? Never will anything more than a good 2/3 center

Your fellow poster insinuated that, the original response was directed towards them.

O'Reilly had 26 playing with black holes and being used in the strictest of defensive manners. His offensive potential was always there, his ceiling looks to be around the 65-70 mark, something akin to Bergeron.

If you don't agree, why argue about his worth?? He won't go for less than one of the Oiler's big guns around here.
