I would easily trade Kessel for OEL.

Yeah and Kessel to Minny makes sense.

Another option:

Kessel for Ty Rattie, Jaden Schwartz, and a 1st.

Missed that one, that's a step backward, why? Why not the 5.5M dollar man? Like I said close but not good enough.

I guess you missed my 10 trade proposal were we end up with Jones and MacKinnon and we get to keep Kessel Lupul Kadri and Rielly.

I am far from standing pat, but I am not moving an elite scorer just for the sake of making a move.

Sign Perry in the offseason
Trade Kessel for two firsts from Minnesota
Liles for a 2nd/3rd
Steckel for fifth
Grabovski for a first
MacArthur for late first/early second.
Sign Getzlaf

JVR-Kadri-Perry
Lupul-Getzlaf-Kulemin
Ashton-Bozak-Frattin
Orr-McClement-Komarov

Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
Gardiner-Kostka
Komisarek-Franson
Fraser

I put Getzlaf second line so we can distribute size.

This team needs size and grit. No guts, no glory. Play these guys for next year to let our draft picks develop and then the following year play the best players we have in our pool.

I like the trade.

If a leaf fan likes the trade the other team won't.

I would even add a Dman. Maybe Holzer/Franson, not much but Minny needs some D help IMO.

With that 1st try to grab someone like Mantha (who I like A LOT) or if its late maybe someone like Bailey (great character guy, good potential)
I'd try to replace Dumba with Brodin if possible. But I'd do it either way.

Although Minny would be in cap hell. I'd take back useless Mitchell as relief

If I am moving Kessel, I am getting at least a top forward prospect in return, a roster player (or another quality prospect), and a 1st. Preferably the top prospect is a centre, but doesn't really matter. I would love to work out a deal with Minnesota because I'd be pushing for Granlund and Coyle, but doubt you can get them. St. Louis could really work as a trading partner for Kessel.

It's not really possible to blow up everything at once. You need players on the ice

Keep Grabovski until Monahan is ready. Kulemin is up in the air, and now is not the time to trade him. Could still be a very good player for us long-term.

Who else would you recommend shipping out?

Something I suggested awhile back...

Kessel + Gardiner

for

Heatley + Granlund + Dumba

If we have ROR and Monahan, there is no room for a top-six or bust center (Kadri). I know that he's playing on the third line now, but I'm thinking long-term.

Kadri's got the nifty mitts, I'm a big fan. But under those trades (that I suggest) we are weak on the right side. That's where Filip Forsberg slides on in. Kid is a BEAUTY. Also has great leadership qualities, which IMO are huge.

Personally, I'd take Kadri over Grabovski even now.

OEL is infinitely better than any of our D. We have lots of D, but overall our D is pretty damn bad. Defense wins championships.

Hell no.

Heatly is old.

Granlund is a nice prospect.

Dumba is like a miniature Dion. Not a fan.

Just my opinion.

I wouldn't do that tbh.

I prefer just Dumba/Brodin + Granlund for Kessel.

Heatleys been great for them but defeats the purpose of tanking

Brodin instead of Dumba, and I'd be interested. I really want Coyle though.

They'd need to dump salary back our way, might as well get someone as talented as Heatly to help with our cause. No way we start a rebuild, not with Nonis at the helm.

I'd take 2 mill back of useless Torrey Mitchell.
Maybe eat a mil or two of Kessels contract

His great play has nothing to do with the system he plays in right?

His points totals don't blow me away. Not a lot of PIMs. +/- is nothing notable. Hits are meh. Blocks are above 1 per game, which is decent.

Overall I see no reason to trade him for the 6th leading scorer in the league last year.
