Good low risk move. Rangers needed a bottom 6 guy.

Failed by doctors.

40 yard dash time was 3 minutes so they failed him

Wow, so is he given another chance to get in shape and attempt to pass another physical in a few weeks or so?

Arnott whines about his bottom 6 role. Langenbrunner does not.

Arnott is also very slow. He can still shoot the puck but he's slow.

Well we know he had knee surgery sometime during the offseason...it could be related to that.

Might they offer him a minor league conditioning stint to help him get into shape?
I kinda doubt Arnott would accept it but...

Did he fail because of general poor shape or because he hasn't fully healed from surgery?

Good luck getting an offer from another team now Jason...

Time to accept a AHL tryout and get back in shape.

According to Steve Zipay the Rangers were concerned about his knee:

Steve Zipay ‏@stevezipay

RT @NewsdaySports: Rangers to Jason Arnott: No deal | http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey...deal-1.4519766 … via @stevezipay Risky knee apparently nixed plan...

He's had a 4 month lockout to get into shape. He is likely done at this point.

Good career, Jason Arnott.

He kinda seems like the guy who, at this point in his career at least, if he doesn't get in the NHL he won't play.

From what I've read, it's because of shape. I could be wrong, though.

Wow, well that's surprising and disappointing.

Unless he's re-tested in a few weeks and/or agrees to a conditioning loan in the minors, I can't see him playing again.
