Does anyone know how much Subban is speculated to be asking for? $$$ and years wise.

http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/01/26/...ter-slow-start

This states Subban wants $5.5 per for 5 years which is insane.

The Caps would be good trading partners. If they don't pick it up you know GMGM will do something huge. That team has a lot of young talent in the wings and it could be a Subban for Mike Green + lots of other things.

I don't think Langkow would want to come here. What I've read about him is that he really loves Calgary and wants to stay west although that could change for one more saddle ride and the right price.

Top FA targets should be 1. Dom Moore 2.Sykora 3.Dvorak.

I really want to see what Mashinter can do if he keeps his PPG pace up with the Whale.

Sykora, Dvorak, Langkow, and Jesse Winchester.

Winchester is a little redundant.

I'd take sykora. He was good here last time and he has a sick shot, Something that is deseperately needed on the flowerplay.

AHL production has proven to mean so much less than what optimism and expectations leads to believe

Does dom moore have kids? If so I doubt he signs this season. If not I could see him here.

Goodie, wasn't a fan of the signing; the last thing we needed in the bottom 6 was another guy who can barely skate and what Arnott brings to the powerplay would only result in a marginal improvement, given that it's clearly a coaching/chemistry issue with the personnel we currently have for the PP.

Gimme some Langkow or Moore.

What's Ortmeyer's situation? Is he healthy? He's a group 3.

Right now redundant isn't bad. Depth is needed.

If I recall correctly the Rangers had interest in Jesse Winchester at the trade deadline last season.

He could help.

Is he fast or pesky? I don't really remember his game too well other than he's a physical fourth liner.

Personally I'd prefer someone who has a different skill set (face offs, a good shot, or speed) but if he can cycle effectively, sure.

I still think Mashinter could be molded into another Prust-type player if he continues his PPG pace in the AHL.

Ortmeyer? Loved him. Him and Tyutin pretty much started the Rangers resurgence back in early 2004 but Jed's career is pretty much over. Too many knee injuries and the blood clot issues. He tried to come back for the Wild and ended up on their farm team. He was a great unsung Ranger hero.

Another thing on Iginla, and I love the guy I really do - but I live in Calgary and I've seen him a couple times this year and yes everyone has rust but he looks noticeably slower and a step behind. Also stays out on the perimeter. He has just come back from a groin injury and maybe he's trying to ease into it but... I dunno...

Unless I'm remembering this wrong Ortmeyer fled for a payraise when we were the ones to give a very poor player a roster spot.

What we need more than Arnott is for Stepan and Callahan to start playing like the 2nd liners they actually are. That doesn't preclude the need for more puck skill in our bottom-6.
I agree--it's possible that Arnott simply couldn't get into decent shape because of age, etc. But, that doesn't suprise me, given the impression I had of him last season. I'm very relieved that he didn't pass the physical since I never thought he could be part of the solution. It scares me though, because it really seems like Sather is in panic mode. Plucking some never been, wanna be off the waiver wire or signing an ageing veteran (who couldn't find a job before the season started) isn't what this team needs.

I'm not worried about Callahan, but the fact that Stepan is starting so slowly after bombing in the playoffs worries me. Plus, it's pretty clear that the organization expected Hagelin to pick up where he left off after coming up and had very high expectations for Kreider--it's a big burden to place on such young players, especially in a 48 game sprint to the playoffs. In the end, salvation lies within. I just hope that all the pieces come together quickly--Sather has always wanted one last Cup before finally retiring and he's not getting younger.

Players are allowed to leave a team over money--I don't see what that has to do with anything. The problem with Ortmeyer is that even in his prime, he's a marginal player who would not fit in with this team or make them any better. People are just throwing names out there because of the slow start.

As a Sens fan I'll answer your questions about Winchester. He isn't very pesky, although he is capable of playing that way. He's a typical 4th liner that was thought to have a higher offensive ceiling when he first entered the NHL. His main strength is working and cycling around the boards, he's very dominant in that aspect. Other than that, there's not much else to add on Winchester, except for maybe that he's very injury prone.

Sather is likely actively looking for someone so I understand why.

Jed on the other hand is 33 and playing in the 4th division CHL. I am still amazed he got to 345 NHL games, but good for him I suppose. Was better than Hollweg.

LOL Arnott...oh well. Would have been ok to have, but the season didn't hinge on Jason Arnott. Now go out and get a veteran defenseman that Tortorella will play more than 6 minutes.

Arnott is far from a never been/was. Maybe the Rangers wanted him to add depth (a hall of fame cup winning guy) on the bottom lines. Nothing wrong with that.

I think he was referring to Ferriero.

All this talk about Subban is ridiculous. It'd be nice but it's not worth the assets it would cost, combined with the money, combined with the belief that Montreal will never trade him, unless he sits out the entire season and shows no indication that he'll re-sign. He's not coming here.
