It's not really about having him as a center, but more about having a utility/depth winger, and he brings more to the table than our current depth guy (Ebbett)

Plus we are firmiliar with him, it's a low risk move that has no real risk, only upside. Then we waive Ebbett (And hopefully he get's picked up to shed a contract)

Yeah was thinking the same thing, I thought he earned a spot last year.

Sucks he is hurt, I think he would be on the team otherwise, brings a nice combo of grit and good allround play.

Yes they can.

Archibald was playing great in the AHL, easily at Ebbett's level.

Sweatt brings more speed & size, aside from that pretty much the same everywhere else. That's still an upgrade.

would love to see either guy get an opportunity over Ebbett at this point, guy has been unimpressive to say the least.

If that's true and Tambi is interested in coming back to the Canucks for a bit...it really is a low-risk alternative. I'd take Tambellini over Ebbett every day of the week and twice on Sundays, and wouldn't even blink.

The main thing is, Andrew Gordon is just...not very good either. If he's better than Ebbett at all...we've still got a career AHLer type in the lineup. If anything...that is grasping at straws.

My thought process aswell.

Perhaps we give Ebbett one more game, or maybe we wait till after the road trip, then if he doesn't pick it up at all, we should look at this scenerio. As like we both agree its an upgrade with the way it looks now.

I think Malhotra will draw back in and the Ebbett issue will be deferred.

come playoffs (if we make it), Ebbet will be our first sub if anyone gets injured. have fun watching Ebbett killing penalties against a line of Toews, Kane, and Sharp, Keith and Seabrook. Honestly, I just want Ebbett out because of the fact that I don't trust AV with how he plays him. It's more of a coaching decision problem so one of them has to go.

Gordon may not be that good but he is the best in-house alternative.

Has been the first line center and the best player in Chicago for awhile (and the main reason they have continued to win). Really has been good Got 50 or so games in the NHL so has some experience.

He is playing better right now than Ebbett did at any time this year in Chicago.

Fine with him playing 6-8 minutes on the 4th line - as a winger.

But he is not fast enough to be on the PK and doesn't have enough vision to be a C. I imagine he was only being used in that position because of the B2B games and not wanting to tire out our regular PK1 and PK2 units.

This season is a marathon sprint, and teams that cannot use their depth will suffer injuries. So I give AV props for trying new things. But that experiment didn't work and he will need to try something else to spread minutes around more evenly.

While I would take Tambo over Ebbett too, he's a winger. How would he be replacing Ebbett? Can't wait til we have Sedin, Kesler, Schroeder, Laps/Malhotra again.

I've always maintained & have said this many times on this board that if he is to have *any* kind of role at the NHL level - it's in a limited offensive role. His style of play (perimeter) is completely opposite to what's required in a bottom six position. Doesn't have the speed to compensate.

Don't see the point of "protecting" him (re: waivers). If we have nobody on the farm to handle even PK or bottom six roles on the Canucks on a temporary basis - why the **** is that coaching staff in Chicago still employed? Those are the skills you can teach to some level of competancy.

Ebbett is the new Rome.
Hey at least av and mg are giving wolves guys chances. We've always complained that kids and AHL guys r never given a chance, and this year they definitely had their shot.

Rome was at least a servicable #6 guy on this team (only problem was AV tended to overuse him/put him in expanded roles he wasn't suited for). He's a legit (if not spectacular) NHLer. The other (Ebbett) is an "ok AHLer" that can fill a *limited* offensive role on the 2nd line in the NHL *temporarily*.

Ebbett performed fine last season as the 13th/14th forward - I think in that role he is worth keeping.

I have lots of concerns about this team in the playoffs. Add this to the list.

Ebbett is currently the 13th forward, with us missing two Top 6 guys. He's the 15th forward when everyone is healthy and in that role he's not a horrible player to have, compared to some of the other 15th forwards around the league.

Could be worth for the shootouts alone. This shootout business is such a mess.

That's fine if he's a 4th line center sub.

What is NOT fine is Ebbett being out on the ice 4 straight PKs vs Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski...

This plus people need to remember, this game was in doubt when Edler and Garrison made those two great passes... to the sharks. To the Joe's of all people.

Having Tambellini back in the line up would be sweet. I always liked his style of play. He layed the body fairly well for a guy his size as well.

I was a big fan of Tambo when he was here. I would not object to having him back as a spare forward. he brought energy and effort, something that you can never have enough of on a team. Will never forget his epic back-check on Erat.

We want Tambo!

^ That play alone had more positive impact for us than anything an injured Glass did in ~20 games or so.
