There was no questioning his talent, he was one of the top players in the game to be sure but that is the problem.. there was supposed to be nobody close to him.

Then finally it seemed he had done it and become the best player in the league, finally.. then he got hurt.

Then he came back...and got hurt again.

He is back now and although it is early he just does not seem the same, I don't see that sheer dominance of before.. he has put up some numbers but not close to before.

Have the concussions hurt his game that much that he is now just again "one of the best"?
Only in Canada, only by the sort of fans you meet in every country. He's a great player and all but he never was head and shoulders above everybody else.

I don't even like Crosby that much. But i really, really hope (and believe) that he will put up a few 3-5 point nights in a row soon. How dumb does this thread look after that. He is now 3+2=5 in 5 games, right?

I won't be even bit surprised to see him being 5+7=12 in 8 games. The guy is one of the most talented players in the game and has proven to have work ethics of a professional athlete.

If he is PPG or less after 15 games I can see someone questioning his ability. Before that let's give him time. Honestly, most of us have soon given Ovechkin 3 year's. Crosby can have few weeks in my opinion.

I'm sure he'll roar back.

But yes, 5 games in Nd Crosby only having a disasterly 5 points and 3 goals for a1 pt/game pace is really cause for concern. Camel, winnik, etc are all clearly better now. Never disappoint HF, never disappoint.

I personally think Malkin is a better player. If I could have any forward in the NHL on my team, I'd take Malkin.

Sidney always starts slowly and for someone who hasn't played for a long time I'd say he's doing fine. He's starting to show someof his moves that make him the best against the Senators and Jets. Give him another 3/4 games and he'll be back to his best. He does better at home so the game against the Islanders could be a good game for him.

What is more likely: guys like Marleau, Hossa, and St. Louis keep up their pace or Crosby increasing his?

Pens play the Isles two times in the next five games. Crosby will be at 20 pts. by the tenth game.

he's 25, plays a responsible (not selke level) 2-way game, elite at faceoffs, and has the best career PPG by a decent margin. Below is factual. It is not the result of tsn brainwashing nhl fans. pretty black & white actually.

Career PPG

crosby - 1.40
malkin - 1.23
ovechkin - 1.22
stamkos - 1.03
giroux - .85

yeah, not worried.

Drawback of a cap world and having two 1st and two 2nd overalls. The penguins have allotted a large %% of the cap to a small number of players. The ol double edge sword.

I don't care what numbers Crosby put up after the Steckle hit the guy has not looked himself. He has had flashes and his numbers have been good but he does not look like the Crosby I have grown to dislike. Some people recover from injury and some don't. I think Crosbys career will follow one of two paths. One of total recovery or one like Pronger. I would not be the least bit suprised if he had a less than stellar season taking all things in to account.

Only a PPG? What a bum...

Seriously...it's a bit early to be proclaiming anything.

Marleau has Thornton and St Louis has Stamkos plus their PPs look scary.

I'd say pretty good that those four stay up there barring injuries.

He's playing timid because that's the only way he can stay healthy. Its pretty smart of him in the long run and he is good enough to be a good 1st line player on the NHL level as a perimeter player.

Not entirely true. In reality he's taken a lower hit than what he could get elsewhere and we can easily fit in some of other more important players such as Letang in. Our biggest problem was trading and draft wingers. Shero is a more defensive guy so we're in a position where we have D-men to spare but need Forwards.

No question about that. This season you can probably grab a winger at the deadline [ which if funny as the season just started and the deadline in in 1.5 months ] but that player will be a rental depending on their hit. Next season your pretty close to the cap. I don't see any of your UFA getting big raises.

I think he's getting better with each game so far. Kunitz and Dupuis have awful so far, especially Kunitz which doesn't help him out a whole lot. And he hasn't played a whole lot so it'll take some time for him to heat up. Not worried.

Sigh, these Crosby threads.... let's just agree that he's a very good player. Not top 10 all time like some would have you believe, but one of the best in the game today.
