Griff should have actually have been Jacob Trouba. Garth misses again. Now we have two Ty Wisharts
Id say thats really unfair to label this kid as that. I remember a certain someone named Tavares who was labeled as slow during the draft....he's certainly changed that around. It sometimes takes a big body some time to develop the strength AND coordination needed to be quicker. He has an NHL pedigree and he'll be a good player for us.
Having said that, i was probably the first one on the Jacob Trouba bandwagon and I see he's having a pretty monster year....but it's far too early to project their ultimate value.
I rather he wasn't an idiot and managed to stay in the game tbh.

I don't see nasty play as idiotic. BillD summed it up nicely. It may take a while to develop him properly, but having a mean sob on your team has its uses.
And if that POS Cooke can tone things down enough to play somewhat normally, I believe any player can learn to do it as well.
...It's always easier to get a guy with a mean streak to play within himself than it is to get sissy to play with some more fire...I have ZERO problem with the way he's playing.
Can somebody tell me what happened to Kirill Petrov? I remember hearing his name alot a few years ago, now I can't find anything about him coming to play for the Islanders, does anybody know anything about his situation?
Petrov keeps signing extensions with his KHL team. I think it's still issues about his mother's health. Isles should fly her to the US to get top notch medical assistance so KP can play in the NHL.
I would like to see Griff play here next year, at 6'4 he has the size and current frame to play in the NHL. Cam Fowler, Victor Hedman and Adam Laarson were drafted and immediately began to contribute to there clubs.
On a side note He did get a 4 game suspension in the WJC earlier this month.
Come on guys, let's stop with the Trouba talk. The kid looks like a stud d-man prospect for Winnipeg and he isn't going anywhere. He could sign after his Sophomore season with the way he's been playing. I don't see another Wheeler/Gregoire/Kessel situation even fathomable with this kid.

Well, he signed that one two-year extension since having been drafted.
But yep, it's looking like he won't be in any rush to come over as long as his mother is in the situation she's in.
Due to the lockout, I've been able to watch a number of his games this season and I think he's ready. He could step right in and do everything i.e. Ullstrom is doing, if not more.

So you think Petrov can average a point a game in the NHL on the 3rd line like Ullstrom almost is (4 points in 5 games), yet he can only average half a point a game in the KHL ? Yes I agree that Petrov MAY have a higher offensive potential then Ullstrom, but, Ullstrom is already proving it in the NHL.

stop being silly. ullstrom is doing well, but he wont keep up this scoring pace. seriously...

Why not? He's doing it playing with Aucoin and McDonald. Once he gets bumped up into the top-six(which I'm pretty sure will happen) his numbers could get even better.
If Okposo eventually gets dropped from that top line, Ullstrom has to be the top candidate at this point to get his spot. I wouldn't be surprised if Ullstrom blows up when that happens(ala Moulson, Parenteau). The kid is a real deal prospect. He's proving that now.
