I think I'm in the minority. Most Pens fans haven't seen much of Seto, they just see a spot in the top-six that needs filling on the wing and will do anything to fill it it seems. So, I think they're sold on the idea...

Labelling first year pros, busts/disapointments shows a complete lack of understanding of the development curve that most pro athletes take.
It is a process, perhaps at the end of their ELC, which is three years out, we can start to make intelligent decisions on these guys based on their body of work as pros.
The knee jerk, throwing young guys under the bus just blows me away.

In my opinion, I'm not really in the camp who wants to see Setoguchi flipped for a, more or less, unproven defenseman. Even if it would be for a fairly well regarded prospect. I think Setoguchi can provide exactly what this team needs, and will need moving forward, at a respectable cap number. It's just at this point this team really hasn't had any stability to find players to surround him with.

I haven't been all that impressed with his tenure with the Wild but at the same time, I'm not moving him unless I would be adding a significant asset to get a legitimate defender. Beyond that, I think we haven't seen what he can truly provide and his real value.

I want to ask for Carlson.

But that would never happen.

Signed Havlat.
Traded for Kobasew.
Traded Burns for secondary scoring.
Fired Richards
Hired new AHL coach
Traded for Heatley
Signed Praise and Suter
Traded Schultz for Gilbert
Traded Zidlicky
Traded Zanon

Again. What can this organization do more of to get this team to actually play like a team and actually score? We've changed out a bunch of parts and yet the car runs the same.

We don't have a dynamic even strength player. Parise is good once he get in close and on the forecheck, but Koivu and Heatley are a slow as **** moving through the neutral zone. We don't have any run and gun type players or coast to coast players. You need that to score even strength. Players who are dynamic and creative enough to create space for themselves and others on things other than the powerplay. Havlat was as close to this kind of player we have had in a long time and he didn't fit well with our team unfortunately.

And don't forget adding two top-ten picks. This is precisely what's worrying me too. It's exactly the same mistakes, sloppiness, and laziness that we've seen for over four years now.

If only we had hired Tippett when we had the chance. . . . .

They may play the trap but they still score more goals than us, and in Tippett's case, with less talent too.

Yeah who would've thought Yeo's powerplay strategy that consisted of "Pass it to Crosby! Now pass it to Malkin!" wouldn't have worked here?

It didn't work in Pittsburgh either from what I've heard.

EDIT: DISCLAIMER: Not a trade idea, didn't see a Possible Free Agent Signings thread.

Here's an idea you guys have probably already thrown around a bit. Phil Kessel.

Backstrom, Bouchard and Cullen's contracts all expire after this season, and Heatley and Kessel's (and even Gilbert's) expire after the next. Re-sign Bouchard (maybe, depending on health and production) and Heatley(?) for less than they make now, let Cullen and Backstrom walk, and then see if you can sign Kessel for 6-6.5M. If necessary, trade Setoguchi for an upgrade on defense.

Then you have a core of forwards that includes:

Koivu
Parise
Granlund
Kessel
Zucker
Coyle
Heatley(?)
Bouchard(?)

Would this be something that could work?

I mean, it could work, and yes, I have thought about it, but I just don't think it's feasible. The Wild, as already shown this season, are really, really top heavy. They need secondary scoring.

My guess for this offseason is that they let Backstrom, Bouchard, and Cullen walk. Re-signing lesser guys would take up a few million, but they'd have roughly 6-8 million in cap space to get a second line winger and maybe a 2nd pairing defender. Can't really afford to sink all of that into one player, IMO.

Watch. We'll let Butch go and all his injury problems will magically disappear, and he'll turn into that 70point/year guy we always new he could be...

I know we don't need 2 midgets on the second line, and he probably should go, but I have a feeling he's not quite done doing well.

Rangers looking for a vet center?

Hello my good friends, do we have the center for you! Mr. Cullen, come on down!

And just for today, we will even add one Cal Clutterbuck, because we no you Ranger GM man love "old fashion grit"!

Finally, saving the best for last, we will throw in a man by the name of Devin Setoguchi!!!!

And it will only cost you Kreider and Skeji and a salary dump!!!

It's going to be a long year for those who think Cullen is going to get traded (or want to see him traded). He's here for the duration of his deal; for better or worse.
