And Elias has improved 10 fold on his faceoff issues, leaving me that much more comfortable if he wounds up getting slotted back at 2nd line center for the rest of the season.
Elias is still terrible at faceoffs.

42% so far this season, 44% last year, and 45% the year before. I see no improvement.

Didn't Petey call Henrique their 2nd line C? I'm expecting that to happen before he gets placed onto the top LW spot.

Not 100% sure but I think since Butler cleared waivers already this season, he can play up to 10 games in the NHL and not have to clear waivers to be sent down.

I think we can lighten up on Josefson just a bit. He's a decent center, plays the PK as well as anyone, usually has plus possession time. Let us not forget that that he regularly centers offensive mavens such as Tedenby, Matteau, Janssen, Barch, and Boulton. It's fairly obvious he is choking the stick to death every time he gets an opening, but even if he turns out to be a 10-25 or 10-30 player, thats still good enough to be a 3C who can play 2C during injuries.

Well if Kovalchuk wasn't logging close to 30 minutes a game he probably would play better. I still think he should be the captain he can handle it.

When you float around the ice for half of your minutes, you don't get near as tired as you'd expect playing 30 mins.

We have poor forward depth and it is showing.

I like how when I type in Devils fire and ice to get to TG's blog, the first article hit that I get is "Parise wants to remain a Devil"

Well then he floats faster than the rest of the team skates in full stride. You are correct with the depth issue it's another problem that we need to address.

I say Lou makes a move onnnnnn Sunday.

The Devils played like complete crap in the last two games and managed to get three out of four points. Maybe that works with the Caps and Islanders.... but two of the next three games are the Bruins and Penguins (Isles in between).

I think Matteau is going back to juniors, Henrique will be back Thurs or Sat, and either the Boston game or Pittsburgh game will make Lou realize he needs to make a move asap.

That would be awesome. It'll be tough because if he doesn't re-sign with the Ducks, everyone will be after him. The Devils can get rid of Zidlicky, Janssen, and Harrold to open up 5 mil of salary and cap space. You never know.

I don't know what the cap is going to be next season but don't we have about 13 million in cap space already this year? We should have more than enough to land him with all these big money contracts coming off this year.

Cap drops to 64m next yr it's already set. That was a major stumbling block in CBA talks. League wanted 62.5 NHLPA wanted 70 they settled on 64.

We have the cap space for pretty much anyone.

But do we have the actual cash for them?
And do they want to come here?

Those will determine our UFA activity.

I figured it was supposed to drop but we still would have more than enough I think.

We have 13 but we get the numbers that they are currently making coming off to resign them too right? So we have more than 13.

I'm confused, which season did this quote come from?

Quote:
“I really didn’t like our first period again,” Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. “That’s three games in a row, so that’s something we have to fix.

I don't know but I think it still could work especially if we don't resign Zids. Elias and Zubrus will likely get a pay cut but who knows.

Henrique won't get a big contract yet knowing Lou he will file for arbitration to get the price down.
