Unless he's re-tested in a few weeks and/or agrees to a conditioning loan in the minors, I can't see him playing again.
In a few weeks the season will be over. It doesn't matter whether it's conditioning (by the way, if it were, it wouldn't be a doctor's decision) or medical; either way it's a short season and, therefore, too late or too risky for whatever reward there might be.
Prust is definitely missed, no doubt about it, but 2.5M would have caused a problem next year when the cap goes down and we have a few players due for a raise. Oh, and thank you for McDonagh.

Might they look into Brian Rolston? Centre isn't his natural, but he could probably fill it, while still giving them that veteran/mentor experience for the locker room.

From what I saw last year - Rolston has nothing left and is done. Rangers would be better off going with and AHL call up IMO.
Holy crap. What a fiasco. I KNEW they were gonna sign him. I KNEW he was old. But he has been playing for weeks. His knee is fine, and his shoulder is an issue that everyone in the league is aware of. This deal was nixed because Torts didn't want him plain and simple.
As for my prediction: I was dead on. As for his physical? It was a sham that the NYR used to save face because Torts threw a fit when Sather offered Arnott a deal.
Arnott will be signed by another team in short order.
In the meantime, I will be working on predicting the NEXT guy the Rangers make an offer to.

Sather would have never offered Arnott a deal if Torts wasn't on board. The two discuss things in detail about players on the team, and around the league. Arnott isn't a Ranger because he isn't physically fit to play the game right now. On any team in the league, I might add.
Kudos for calling this, but it's a shame that you wanted a player you admittingly didn't watch last season.
Your next prediction should be Malkin to NYR. Let's put your skills to good use.

You should check out the film zeitgeist if you haven't already.

The season's not over for a few months. It ends in late April. More than enough time for Arnott to go condition if he wanted to and sign somewhere way before even the trade deadline.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch, but there are rumblings in New York about a certain "great" player who is considering a 1-year comeback with the rags.

Unless it's Nik Lidstrom I'd pass.
As a NYR fan, I cannot think of too any other retired players that would could come in and be a significant contributor in a shortened season.
