That's one of the reasons PK wants a longer term.

Fans understand the negociations? Have you been on facebook lately? On the Montreal Canadiens page. Everytime they say something non related to P.K fans jump in and bash him. I'm not talking about people on this board though, most of the comments I've seen were fine and realistic.

I know, but he'll probably have no choice to take on a shorter term deal if he wants to stay with the team, I don't see MB giving up. I love P.k and I want him to retire a Canadien.

Yeah, like a dollar for two quarters. Weber's first game, but he did not look good.
We have a pretty good D with a healthy Markov and PK in the lineup.

Yup, hopefully Bergevin and Subban can agree and we can move forward

The worst part is, it was an Oilers fan suggesting the trade, not a Habs fan inquiring. Also, apparently Subban isn't worth more than Petry either, and Price is not that much better than Dubynk. I know there's got to be some realistic Oilers fans out there, but those I talked to this summer were not of that mold.
There was a post earlier from an Oilers fan who didn't even want to trade for PK since there was no room in their top 4 D for him..

Another beauty trade suggested was a 3 way trade between the Habs, Oilers and Canucks where the Habs got Luongo, Price went to the Oilers, and the Canucks get what they wanted from both the Habs and Oilers in the trade. To be fair to this guy though he did ask if he was off his rocker for suggesting that and every Oiler fan told him yes he was.

PK really needs to sign ASAP so these fun times can finally end.

They would have to consider the taxes in Montreal, but I say 3 years at 3 million per. 2.5 million is too low for Subban, though he has a lot of growing and maturing to do, high potential, but don't give him too much so that he becomes lazy.

Yup, that's why I go on this site now instead of looking for anything hockey related on facebook. Pineapples out.

That argument has been made a million times.

It's really important to identify the individual situations.

Price wasn't the starter, and was having some struggles.

Pacioretty was relatively fresh from the AHL, and had some injury concerns.

Subban has been playing the #1D position for 2 years now.
Perfect post

The big price is Subban stays out another 2-3 weeks or more is that Markov(25.18/game) and Bouillon(20:56min/game) are taking more minutes than they should.

With Subban there those 2 would drop a combined 5 minutes and Subban would replace Kaberle who has played 15:42.

Markov 22-24 min
Subban 21-22 min
Emelin 21-22 min
Gorges 21-22 min
Bouillon 17-19 min
Diaz 17-19 min

When Subban comes back I split the ice-time evenly and space the talent out evenly over the lineup.

Markov - Emelin (24 mins)

Gorges - Diaz (18 mins)

Boullion - Subban (18 mins)

Swap Subban and Diaz. Diaz didn't looked good against top oppositions

I think Subban will play 24 minutes before Emelin does...

Doesn't work that way. Emelin will always play less minutes than Markov because he doesn't play PP.

Subban will play more than 18, because, eventually, he's gona get some PP and PK minutes, and so on. Bouillon and Diaz should be the ones playing 16-18 minutes at most.

But the way it is going, it is quite possible that PK will play ZERO minutes this year. Too bad, but that's life.

Last year it was clear, so we don't even need to discuss it.

In 2010 he had the most shifts on the team in terms of D, except for Gorges. But PK played a lot more in respect to TOI. Keep in mind he was a rookie!

Hamrlik was up there in terms of TOI, but he didn't play as much penalty kill or power play as Subban.

So, effectively, yes he was our #1 D man for the last two years. There was a bit of a learning curve in the early stages of year 1, and you can nitpick if you want to, but you would really only being arguing semantics at that point. It was a lot tighter in 2010 in terms of determining our #1 than it was last year though, I'll give you that.

Of course, the other argument is that it's only because of Markov that Subban played #1 minutes for two years, but that's a fairly weak argument, since Markov wasn't there, and Subban was the one who played those minutes and played them well. It should be no slight against Subban that Markov was injured. He was thrust into an intense role at a very young age, and did admirably.
