I would've thought a team would send PK an offer sheet by now, I'm surprised it hasn't happened.

But the way it is going, it is quite possible that PK will play ZERO minutes this year. Too bad, but that's life.
you don't mess with whats working, what im saying is do not split up the d-pairings.

All I want to know is:

Has anyone seen the smoke coming out of the chimney in the Subban household today?
And, was it black or white?

It's pointless...Habs will match any realistic compensation offer.

Furthermore, offer sheets just aren't a common occurance

Thru the course of a game, it happens many times that the pairings are undone because of PP and PK.

For years, in the mid seventies, the Habs were playing the Big Three (Robinson, Savard and Lapointe) about 30 minutes each.

What do the Gallagher/Galchenyuk announcements mean in terms of salary cap for a deal for PK this year?

I would think that coming out of a lockout where the sole reason for it was owners who ****ed up the first one, it's nice to see some restaint... at least for the time being.

Interesting point. Means Habs are a little tighter but the bonus can be carried over to next year I think (which does not look much better cap wise. Realistically it means the Habs would have to trade Kaberle if Subban signs.

Not sure where you are getting your numbers from but unless Subban is signed for something over 5.5M, then the Habs are fine for cap space.

kabarle is not getting trade he's being bought out....trading measn accepting to pay part of his salary or getting a player in return
considering kabarles value is at an all time low, we would not get a decent player in return and it means money on the cap for nothing

PK Subban and agent Don Meehan will meet today in Toronto to discuss what to do next. Philosophical differences between Subban & #Canadiens.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I read an article on line last week and someone asked Dave Nonis why he doesn't offersheet PK? He spoke in generalities but what I understood is the Habs would match most offers and after Nashville matched Webers offersheet the sentiment is most teams don't want to drive the rates up on their own RFA's.

I bet we will probability see less offersheets in the future as it is a way of the GM/owners's using collusion to keep salaries down. Good for Montreal, bad for PK.

Even without a bonus cushion this season, he can fit at a 5mil cap-hit.

Would you rather they meet to not discuss what to do?

His article today doesn't sound much better, and he says that according to Garrioch, the Wings and the Rangers are "interested".

Well with Galchenyuk staying and making so much money this year I'm sure the PK situation is going to be resolved one way or another. I'm a little surprised that Galchenyuk got all that money when the easy move would have been to send him down...but obviously that didn't happen.

I can't see how they can pay him less than Galchenyuk on his entry level deal...as much as I believe in a hometown discount that would be difficult to swallow for PK. I think the habs are going to move him.

There shouldn't be a problem. Even without the bonus cushion, Capgeek has us at 3.4 million under the cap with 25 players on the roster. Send down 3 players, say Blunden, Palushaj and Nokelainen (when they heal up), and we now have 5.1 million in cap space to sign Subban. Plus PK will have already missed at least 1/10 of the season by the time he returns so we would only be on the hook for 90% of his cap hit/salary for the season, and that number is decreasing by the day. So we're left with 5.66 million in cap space, and counting, to sign Subban (without taking into account the bonus cushion) which would be more than enough even if MB "caves".
