just asking... would the price come down when Luongo says he will never play a minute for the Nucks again and he wants to be traded within the next 48 hours?

Why would he say that?

Depends, if he says that he won't play for us there is really no consequence toward us if we let him sit. So while the value would drop, it wouldn't plummet extremely low.

If Luongo demanded a trade, I tend to think we would lighten up a bit.

Although I don't think what MG is asking is necessarily unreasonable, and that there have been reasonable ideas floated around, just that maybe the proposaal aren't the right fit at the moment.

although with younger players (Kassian and Schroeder) Stepping up and playing well for us, it might change the dynamic for us a bit.

Didn't seem to change the price we got for Pavel Bure, although that was a long time ago.

Washington is in no way in the market for a goaltender. I've been following the team my whole life and there is no way they would bite on it.

We need forwards and another defenseman. Holtby/Neuvirth one of those will easily get a top quality forward or defenseman.

We have no need for Luongo.

The mystery team is likely Calgary.

Really? I've talked to some of the main guys and they would in no way do this deal. I've followed the forums and there is no way any of them want Luongo.

Neuvirth has played FANTASTIC while this team has been struggling. We are already going to get rid of Holtby/Neuvirth for a quality forward or a defenseman and then add a veteran to back up our starter.

There is no way this team is Washington.. He costs too much. With his contract and Ovechkin's it would be awful.

But what? He's the only possible team in my mind that would take him.

This actually makes no sense. Why would calgary want luongo? If you can trade one of your young goalies for a good forward then bring in luongo you would be a better team.

Then New Jersey or Edmonton?

There is virtually no other team that would want Luongo's services that the Canucks would be happy getting pieces from.

They say the trade forum is the worst, I kind of believe them now. Each fan comes and defends their team because people spew stupid things about trades.

I'm not sure that was really necessary. Perople see a weakness on your team, even if you do not. Reacting like that didn't really help anything.

No team makes sense unless they're sending huge salary back. So Tampa maybe if the Canucks would take a straight swap for Lecavalier and of course he'd have to accept getting traded since I think he has a no-trade clause. The Islanders make a lot of sense if Dipietro is included in the deal.

tampa's closer to contention than the islanders (needless to say)
at Luongo's age he works best on a contender
and they seem quite pleased with sami salo (5 0 5 5 +9), maybe he could pass the word

I would probably do that one for one swap

We then move Booth and let Malhotra go and we can take his salary

That is a "out of the frying pan into the fire" sort of situation. I don't see MG or LG being on board bringing in another center who makes more than the Sedins; where would he fit in our line up? With the Sedins? What if he doesn't excel there? 2nd Line Wing?

Just too risky; imo.

Really? You think Calgary is the only team that would take Luongo? That's one team that's not even on my list of possibles.

I would say its even money at this point, but one would hope it's PHX... I mean that has been going on for years.

Calgary couldn't afford him and doesn't really need him. They have problems but goaltending isn't their biggest one.

And there is no way in heck the Canucks would ever trade him to a division rival.

Luongo to Capitals

They never get mentioned as a possible destination but it makes sense to me. I think he'd make them a much better team and allow them to open it up a bit more offensively.
